recycling: Fail ! Acknowledged310 Howard Ave New Haven, CT 06519 - City Point
resolution2012. The new trash toters were introduced with attached flyer explaining that the large blue toters are now for recyclables only. The fliers ended up all over the street and many residents (especially in large multi-family buildings) are using both large & small toters for trash. City needs a much more aggressive education program re. proper use of toters--followed by aggressive fining for non-compliance (yet another way to lower our taxes while socking it to those who are trashing our neighborhoods...).

Howard Ave. unsafe for cyclists Acknowledged733 Howard Ave New Haven, CT 06519 - Yale University Campus
The entirety of Howard Ave below Frontage Road on the way through the Hill is incredibly unsafe for cyclists. Motorists speed, fail to stop at red lights, throw trash onto the road. The entire right lane is made of potholes! This whole lane should be repaved.
And what of these rumors that the city has promised to create a bike lane on Howard Ave? Many cyclists as well as drivers use this road on their daily commute, and yet it looks like it hasn't been repaired in many long years.
Please fix the potholes! Please consider striping a bike lane! Please find ways to get motorists to slow down! Please clean up the heavily littered road (I've seen hypodermic needles lying in the gutter)!

Cars blocking intersection ArchivedW Water St New Haven, CT - Hill
The police cars, vans, and officer private vehicles are parked all around S.Orange, both sides, AND sidewalks. It is impossible to safely turn from WWater onto SOrange or vice versa, or from the Gateway garage... all the illegally parked cars make it impossible to see traffic or pedestrians in either direction. There have been several dangerous incidents as people pull out to try to see to safely drive. Visitors to the Board of Ed and the Church St Projects are terrorized by police using these streets as their private parking lots.

An opportunity to fix these chronic problems! Next Wednesday, Jan. 26th Mike Piscitelli and Jim Travers from the City's Traffic, Transportation and Parking Department and Douglas Haslauden and Mark Abraham from Safe Streets will meet with residents to discuss the pros and cons of the various traffic calming measures available for our neighborhood and to provide an overview of the Safe Streets program. TIME:
5 pm: MEET ON THE NEW HOWARD AVE. BRIDGE over I-95 for a quick walking tour with city officials, where we residents can explain our specific concerns. THEN at 5:30 PM AT THE SOUND SCHOOL LIBRARY, 60 South Water Street, a meeting to discuss traffic-calming options that we can pursue. I hope to see many neighbors there!· Fix it! Voted! · Share -
Elm At Norton New Haven, CT 06519, USA - Hill
I live on the corner of Norton and Elm, and I think Elm Street needs some speed bumps or the traffic light needs to be changed so that it blinks red on both sides in order to prevent people from blasting through. Not only do cars speed down Elm entirely too fast for a residential neighborhood that is full of children, but guys on dirtbikes are also a huge nuisance. The dirtbike problem mystifies me, as there is a police substation one block away. Why should we be subjected to this danger and noise every day? If there were a few speedbumps on Elm these problems would be solved instantly.

76 Howard Ave New Haven, CT - City Point
Some people who live at 76 Howard Ave (or maybe visitors of people who live there?) have been dumping trash on the premises, on the street, AND on the neighbors' lawns (including used diapers and more), people have been urinating outside between the property and the neighboring properties and making noise and disrupting neighbors at all hours of the day and night. The situation is getting out of hand.

illegal scrap metal business, blight Archived205 Greenwich Ave New Haven, CT - City Point
Large amounts of scrap metal are being moved in and out of this property [corner of Greenwich Av & Fifth St] on a daily basis. Pile violates blight ordinance. Scrap metal business operating without a zoning variance. Pile pictured is in driveway on Greenwich Ave. side of building. However, materials also are frequently stockpiled behind building, on Fifth St. side.
