JP Dempsey and Goosdellows outdoor tables take up too much of the sidewalk. Pedestrians are forced to use the "brick" section of the sidewalk which is cluttered with utility poles, newspaper machines and fire hydrants. It is nearly impossible for anyone in a wheelchair or stroller to get by.

I email inbox is blowing up with an excessive amount of emails from SeeClickFix regarding if fire hydrants being cleared. Most of them regard fire hydrants in areas i don't live in. While I understand the necessity of fire hydrants being cleared, I really would appreciate it if I didn't have to scroll down dozens of emails concerning them to get to a work email.

can you please stop the person who floods the site with messages about snowed in fire hydrants. It kills the site. i am a fan of this site but ready to delegate messages to spam...

Mazda and Nissan sedans parked in the street since the major storm. Blocking two way traffic, and blocking access to fire hydrant. Asked the owners to move, but they continue to park there. They will prevent plowing operations during the next storm.

I think its great that someone is using SCF to check on the work of cleanup crews in clearing essential infrastructure, but do I really need to receive an email asking if the hydrant has been cleared for every damned fire hydrant in New Haven?

Institute a permanent, well advertised street parking rules for snow days. They would go something like this....

Street parking rules goes into effect at 8 p.m. the day before snow is reported to start.

Citywide, no parking on major streets posted as a Snow Emergency Route.

Citywide, no parking within 25 feet of an intersection, nor in front of a bus stop nor in front of a fire hydrant.

In downtown, no street parking (on and between Howe Street, Tower Parkway, Grove Street, State Street and North Frontage Road).

In non-downtown areas, if the date is odd, park on the odd side of the street (with odd numbered addresses.)

In non-downtown areas, if the date is even, park on the even side of the street (with even numbered addresses.)

Switch cars over between 6-8 a.m.

If the storm begins on the 31st, park on the odd side that day and the opposite side on the next day.

If you are not able to follow these rules, park in a garage downtown or some other off street parking.

I live 3 blocks from an elementary school at the corner of Edgewood and Alden Avenues. I have dutifully shoveled my sidewalks and dug out the fire hydrant as best as I am able and marked it with a pole and a bright red ribbon.But I can not shovel the five feet from the curb to the street that the snow plows have left. I commiserate with the city and the huge job they are tackling but we have many children in our neighborhood who walk to school and there is no way for them to cross the street without walking in the street. I am a senior citizen asking for your help. We need one of those small bobcat plows to make our intersection passable for pedestrians! Thank you for your help and stay safe and warm out there !

Our water is brown tonight due to "High Volume." I was told by the water company that this was caused by people opening the fire hydrants to keep cool. Please don't open hydrants, and call the police asap if you see it. Otherwise, we will all keep having undrinkable water.

how long will downed wires be left wrapped around a fire hydrant at the side entrance to edgewood school...so far 2+weeks and counting.
