217 N. Jenison Lansing, MI - Lansing
House has been apparently abandoned since summer. At which time the home owner left two large dogs inside for 6 weeks, unattended without airconditioning in 100 degree weather. The dogs have been removed. However, the house is violating multiple codes. There is a large broken window on the north end of the house, there is no secure closure on this window. There are tires piled up in the driveway. There are stains on the front of the house dripping down the white siding. The BWL has turned off power to the house. There is trash in the backyard (trampolines, debris, etc). Since the house is apparently vacant, it was used during a B&E in which the thiefs hid their bicycles in the backyard to hop a fence and gain entry into the backyard of the house where they broke in.

Debris in Bike Lane OpenKalamazoo Street Lansing, Michigan - Lansing
The Kalamazoo bike lane (as I imagine are all the bike lanes and shoulders within the City) is extremely dangerous right now. It is filled with a thick accumulation of dirt, glass, and other debris (see photo). The bottom of the downhill eastbound stretch right in front of Hunter Park is especially dangerous as it has collected all the debris from the street over the entire winter. Riding over that stretch at higher speeds from going downhill is extremely hazardous, especially because the parallel roadway right through there is laden with deep pot holes. Scary combination, especially if are not aware of the hazard before descending down the hill. I notified the traffic department about this problem area almost a month ago. Hopefully you can get out there to have it cleaned up right away. With today as the first day of Bike Month, it certainly would be appropriate and appreciated to sweep all the bike lanes/shoulders throughout the City. Thanks for looking into this.

Debris in Kzoo Bike Lane Archived1228 E Kalamazoo St Lansing, MI - Lansing
The Kalamazoo St. bike lane is full of gravel, glass and broken car parts ever since the snow melt. I imagine the rest of Lansing's bike lanes are in a similar state. Scheduling bike lane sweepings immediately following the last snow melt will improve safety and encourage more bicycle commuting.

Resurfacing needed Open3200-3298 East Kalamazoo Street Lansing, MI - Lansing
I understand that the City of E. Lansing will be resurfacing Kalamazoo St. east of the bridge over the Red Cedar here; haven't heard anyone mention if Kalamazoo west of the bridge is going to be resurfaced which it desperately needs. The potholes and broken up pavement, particularly in the east-bound lane, are really bad from S. Clippert all the way to the bridge.

Lansing River Trail Lansing, MI 48912, USA - Lansing
Many if not all of the bridges along the River Trail have been installed with shiny steel plates to cover up the gap between the paved trail and the bridge. These get extremely slippery when wet or icy any time of the year (not just winter). They need to have some non-slip material applied to them to reduce the chance of nasty slip accidents by bicyclists, joggers, walkers, roller bladers.

Crosswalk needed Open100 198 W Saginaw St Lansing, MI 48933, USA - Lansing
This intersection is a popular crossing point for Lansing Community College students and many other citizens, but there is no defined crosswalk.
There should be a crosswalk connecting the northwest corner across Saginaw because traffic coming out of Washington onto Saginaw has to turn left (ideally, away from the crosswalk).· Fix it! Voted! · Share -
Bike Lane Ends Archived711 E Kalamazoo St Lansing, MI 48912 - Lansing
The bike lane on Kalamazoo Street in downtown Lansing is great until it abruptly ends at the railroad tracks, thus shooting you back out into the right hand turn lane one block up. Additionally, the next intersection is a poorly marked access point to the Lansing River Trail.
Sure would be nice to finish striping this bike lane all the way into the downtown business district and connect it with the River Trail.
