1920 North Street Philadelphia, PA - Fairmount-Spring Garden
Abandoned lot is overgrown with weeds. Weeds are almost as tall as the neighboring buildings. The lot is now home to many rodents and pests, such as mice, rats, mosquitoes. I believe the lot is actually part of a property on 19th and Wallace, however, the lot is located on North St. between 1918 and 1922.

1819 Spring Garden St Philadelphia, PA 19130, USA - Fairmount-Spring Garden
The funeral home in this vicinity on Spring Garden regularly blocks off the left lane of Spring Garden going west. Particularly during rush hour this is extremely annoying and dangerous. Today they had an event where attendees blocked the left lane, including the turning lanes (double-parking!!) for three blocks. That business needs to have it's hours restricted. Better yet, the business should be migrated to where it is appropriate and where there is space. Ridge ave comes to mind.
Accessibility can not be an argument for them to stay - apparently the attendees of their events have sufficient transportation of their own.
This sort of impediment is inappropriate at any time. Somebody do something, please!· Fix it! Voted! · Share -
1628 Wallace Street Philadelphia, PA - Fairmount-Spring Garden
I have witnessed several drug deals from individual who appear not to live in the building but do business in front of the apartment building on a regular basis. A Hispanic Male (looks early 20's) and three Black males (between 20 and 35) are regulars at this location starting at 8:00 AM. The residents on the first floor are afraid to tell them to move away from the steps and the dealers are becoming increasingly bolder and intimidating. Police have been called several times to report the drug dealing but they keep returning to the steps of this building.

Cars idling, blocking bus lane & traffic Acknowledged1699 Spring Garden St. Philadelphia, PA 19130, USA - Fairmount-Spring Garden
People picking students up after school sometimes 'double-park' three deep here. They also have their engines on. Often they are in the bus stop, so us bus passengers have to enter/exit bus in the middle of the street. This further blocks up traffic because when the bus has to stop in 3rd lane, traffic cannot go by normally. This is dangerous, polluting, and illegal.

Dangerous Building Facade Archived1718 North St Philadelphia, PA - Fairmount-Spring Garden
This is a follow-up to to a previous post (item #65093). In Dec 2009, L&I taped off the area and posted a notice for immediate demolition of this property after about a hundred bricks from its facade fell onto the sidewalk. Nothing ever happened. The issue was raised again in Nov 2010. L&I inspected again, and amazingly, even though nothing was done to fix the building, they found that the complaint was "unfounded". This issue is still "open"

1718 North Street Philadelphia, PA - Fairmount-Spring Garden
Following the snowstorms of last winter, about a hundred bricks form the northern facade of this building fell to the sidewalk. Shortly afterward, it was taped off and a notice to the owner to immediately demolish was posted. Nothing ever happened, the notice has been taken down and the tape lasted about a week. The building at this address has been in a state of neglect for years. Vegetation is growing through the bricks and structure and more of the north facing facade will fall this winter following freeze thaw cycles. The bricks are already bulging out and vegetation is pushing through. Additionally, the western wall has a slight lean towards the adjacent residential parking lot. The roof is completely collapsed and full size trees are growing from the ground floor to above the height of the building. This building is unsafe and needs to be fixed or demolished before someone gets hurt. Workers from the business across the street park on sidewalk under the collapsing facade on almost a daily basis.
