Notified About

  • Vfw Parkway Brockton, MA - Ward 2
The Little Free Library lovingly built, installed, and maintained by volunteers was brutally vandalized and damaged. This was an intentional act. We have taken it back to our Steward for repairs. This is just a series of incidents in this area -- from the heron sculpture that was damaged, to feces smeared on our church steps, to our cars broken into during a night service. This is damaging the image of the city, and negatively impacting the will of the people to fight back. What specific action is the city taking to protect us from these atrocious acts?
  • Main Street North Of Centre Street Brockton, Massachusetts - Ward 2
Malicious vandalism to the planter just north of Centre on Main Street - plants were yanked out of the wrought iron planter and left on the sidewalk to die. Garden Club replanted and watered and will hope for the best. 8.3.17 late afternoon. Is there surveillance camera on the building which we believe is the welfare/benefits office? We need to shame - and then punish - the vandals. Lynn Smith is willing to offer a cash reward for information leading to their identification and apprehension.
  • Thomas Street Brockton, Massachusetts - Ward 5

I live on Thomas Street. Apparently, the street was originally paved in the 60s. The street reportedly has never been repaved, only patched. The street is badly in need of repaving.

The road condition is so bad, whole sections of it ends up in the grass and plants on the edge of my yard -- up to several feet in, when the trucks plow snow. The street is very challenging to drive, especially the part between Thomas Circle and Donna Rd.

    To whom it may concern,

This is the wonderful aftermath of our wonderful neighbors. They are extremely kind and considerate, hosting parties with loud music, strobe lights, and dozens and dozens and dozens of people. They are so considerate; they finally had several cop cruisers and wonderful police officers there around 1am.

    My questions to the City of Brockton, are these;

According to Article II, Sec. 14-18, 1 thru 6. They were a nuisance to the neighborhoods, and effected the quality of life of those neighbors around them.

    So,

Was the owner of the home cited and fined for a nuisance complaint?
If not, why were they not? This is not the first time.

Second and more pressing concern, is were the owners charged with Underage Drinking and the Social Host Law in Massachusetts?
If not, why not? The kids were drinking, and the father was clearly at the residence. As a matter of fact, early we asked them to turn down the music and the kids flipped us off, and the father made a shoeing away gesture to us go back in the house. This is the second time in less two weeks he has enabled and allowed such a party to be at this residence. Is this not a DSS matter then?

If the parent was not charged, “There’s a common misconception that only grownups can get in trouble for giving alcohol to underage guests. Not true!! Minors (under age 21) can also be charged with violating the Social Host Law if they invite friends to your house and provide alcohol”, so somebody should be held responsible.

By allowing this type of underage parties, he, or they, are intentionally putting the residents, the kids, and the city of Brockton in danger with the possibility of drunk or impaired drivers on the road after such an event.

The attacked photo clearly shows alcohol bottle strewn about the yard.
If there is no fines or punishment being imposed, then there is no deterrent to stop such nuisance behavior in the future. So, please explain the legal action that was taken, or if none was taken, other than the police shutting the party down starting around 1am, why not.
If this is not the right forum for this, please provide a clear POC (point of contact) for the right agency.

    Thanks for your time,

The city playground located at the Davis school is disappointingly still not fixed. These children have to use a playground, after working very hard in school, that in my opinion is barely useable. The slide has a huge hole in it and instead of being fixed it was boarded up. The draw bridge was broken and has yet to be replaced along with some broken swings. In my opinion, we want to keep our children busy and having fun, not bored and causing trouble. The least you can do for our children is fix this city playground so it is useable for the kids during and after school hours. I do know that this is the second complaint about this playground.

Vandals have destroyed one of the Little Free Libraries right near the City Hall in Brockton Mass. Unacceptable for this vicious attack on the volunteer citizens who are trying relentlessly to make Brockton a better place. Lights and perhaps more surveillance is necessary to help keep this city from more heartless, destructive acts.

Cars parked on sidewalks on both sides of the street. They are completely blocking pedestrian use of the sidewalk. I've reported this here many times. I was told to call the police non-emergency number when this happens again. They either do not respond at all or several hours later when it's too late to catch them. My elderly Dad and I like to take walks together but can not use our sidewalk. The Campello High Rise residents can not get by with their wheel chairs. I wish something could be done about this problem otherwise what is the use of this website?

Mr. Craig Pina, a member of the Zoning Board of Appeals, has slandered my efforts, my neighbors' efforts and the efforts of two of my city councilors for voicing our opinion at a recent public meeting concerning a proposed development on Summer Street in Campello. Mr. Pina has resorted to posting memes about elected officials and candidates for office that violate any semblance of the ethical conduct expected of a person who represents the City of Brockton. A cursory review of Facebook will uncover his disregard for the reputation of Brockton as a City of Champions. His conduct is not limited to this particular incident and will show a pattern of beahvior harmful to the City. I am requesting that the Board Chair Mr. Galligan and the Mayor investigate this matter and begin the process of removal, by first asking him to step down from the Board, and then if necessary, to have him removed. If Mr. Pina wants to exercise free speech, let him do it as a private citizen. Brockton is better than this.

Illegally selling fire wood and breeding dogs that are always unleashed. Operating unlicensed boarding rooms in his house. Vehicles pulling up all hours of the night. Abandoned cars out in the street with no license plate.
Also camper parked on public Street in front of his house. Gas cans stored outside with propane tanks.
