Notified About

  • Street Light Archived
2300-2398 Valley Street Oakland, California - Northgate
Please evaluate the section of Valley Street between 23rd and 24th Streets for increased wattage on the existing street lights. Thank you.
  • 2501-2549 West Street Oakland, California - Hoover-Foster
West Street between 25th Street and Sycamore St has bike lanes on it, only the line marking the lane is gone. On much of West street new paint was applied this summer (thank you!) to refresh the thermoplastic but this block was missed. There is an existing "bike lane" stencil in the north bound direction, but the stripe marking the lane is no longer visible on either side of the street.
  • Other: Signs Acknowledged
438 W Grand Ave Oakland, California - Northgate
The pedestrian crossing (at W Grand and Valley st) from one side of Grand to the other side is increasingly getting more usage. However, cars often speed through this area of Grand Ave without noticing pedestrians. There are currently NO pedestrian crossing signs at this intersection and it is dangerous. We are requesting pedestrian crossing signs be installed and better painted lines. Ideally, we should also have blinking warning lights that can be triggered by pedestrians.
  • 522 20th Street (Thomss L Berkley Way) Oakland, California - San Pablo Gateway
The multi-family building under construction next to the climbing gym is occupying the sidewalk and had cordon-ed off a temporary crossing that was working well. Last week, the temporary crossing became a storage area for rebar and pedestrians are being directed to cross mid-block. This is a very un-safe situation. There is too much of a desire line to stay on the north side of the street, and I keep seeing people walking in the street instead of crossing. The street also has a lot of AC Transit buses running on it that don't mix well with pedestrians walking in the street. The buildings on the north side of the street include the County Social Services building, Uptown Place condos, SEIU, and climbing gym. Please require them to keep this crossing open. I am attaching a picture of a man in a walker crossing in the street here. Every day, I see something like this. Thanks in advance for your attention to this.
  • Broadway And 24th St Oakland, California - Northgate

The uncontrolled crosswalk on 24th Street crossing Broadway is heavily used, connecting to the YMCA, but I have seen many drivers refuse to stop for pedestrians waiting on the corner and when one does the drivers in the next lane over invariably don't follow suit leading to many close calls. This is especially problematic with traffic on northbound Broadway, as their view of the crosswalk to the left is blocked by the trees and plantings in the median.

I would like to see "sharks teeth" advance yield markings painted on Broadway ahead of the crosswalk to give drivers another visual indication that they should prepare to stop, and if possible install pushbutton-activated rapid flashing beacons on the "pedestrian crossing" signs to make the crosswalk safer to use at both day and night.

  • Other Archived
    411 23rd St Oakland, CA - Northgate
At the commercial loading dock on 23rd St and Broadway and across the street at Numi Tea (400 23rd St) dumpsters and trash cans are routinely left uncovered and blocking the public right of way well outside of normal trash collection hours. The building manager for both properties has been repeatedly notified yet the problem persists.
  • Homeless encampment Acknowledged
2236-2248 San Pablo Ave Oakland, California - Ralph Bunche
Why has the tent city of homeless been allowed to stake claim to.the sidewalk on San Pablo under the 580 freeway? It is a most unsightly introduction to the entering Oakland via Grand. In addition, aren't there services to help these people be safe, healthy, and moving towards greater self-sustainability?
  • 552 30th Street Oakland, California - Pill Hill
30th St has a terrible speeding problem. Drivers frequency zip down 30th St. between Telegraph and MLK at over 60 miles per hour. I have personally witnessed three crashes where a speeding driver has ran into parked cars or even the freeway underpass. It is dangerous to cross the street and for bikers. Please install speed bumps. This photograph was taken 08/05/2014 after a driver crashed into three cars.
  • Street Light Archived
1401-1475 Broadway Oakland, CA 94612, USA - Downtown
Street lights out west side of Broadway/Telegraph from 14th street to 16th street. Major public safety issue and threat to businesses in this high crime corridor.
  • 565 Sycamore Street Oakland, California - Northgate
Cars coming off the 980 on Northgate are generally going fairly fast, and there is a curve right before the street crosses Sycamore. Pedestrians trying to cross Northgate at that intersection cannot see whether cars are coming around the bend, and it is a major safety hazard. Either a mirror should be installed there, or a lighted crosswalk, or--best--a traffic signal.
  • 28th St And San Pablo Oakland, California - Hoover-Foster
the biggest pile of trash i have ever seen in W Oakland - strewn out into the middle of the street where it is a driving hazard, all the way from San Pablo to Market St on 28th St
  • Other City Services Acknowledged
    I-980 E Oakland 94609, United States - Pill Hill
Homeless encampment in freeway underpass - 2 tents have been there for several weeks, along with constant debris along the underpass.
