Notified About

  • Stillwater Avenue Bangor, ME - Bangor
No left turn from 95 onto Stillwater? Instead tons of people pull into the shopping center and pull a u-turn, or turn L illegally. Those options seem to be much less safe than changing the traffic pattern/light.
  • Downtown Bangor, ME - Bangor
People hanging out and doing drugs down by the river and the walk way and sitting in the square I have walked several times across the J C bridge and looked down to see people doing drugs

Stillwater Avenue & Interstate 95 Bangor, ME - Bangor

The intersection confuses many drivers. There are 4 signal lights for the offramp. there are only 3 lanes, the left lane is for entrance to the Parkade mall. The other 2 lanes are for right turn onto Stillwater Ave. The second straight arrow is where the confusion is, it makes a driver think that there are 2 straight ahead lanes into the Parkade Mall Area. The second straight arrow signal light needs to be removed.

The above mentioned area causes many traffic tie-ups as well as many frustrated drivers.

  • Stillwater Ave Bangor, ME - Bangor
See many people in wrong lanes and turning left off I95 and Stillwater Ave. At the Khol's intersection. May need to change these lights/lanes
  • 504 Stillwater Ave Bangor, ME - Bangor
There is no left turn allowed off of the Stillwater Avenue I-95 exit, but there doesn't seem to be any logical reason for there not to be. There is a break in the light cycle where there are only cars turning right off the Interstate and no other traffic — why not allow people to turn left as well?
  • Stillwater Ave Bangor, ME - Bangor
The exit off 95 onto Stillwater Ave has three lanes for traffic. The lane on the left is for going straight (into the shopping area for Kohls etc) and the other two lanes are for turning right onto Stillwater. The problem is there are 4 lights. 2 for going straight and 2 for turning. More times than not I get stuck behind someone wanting to go straight in the lane where you are supposed to turn right. Please eliminate one of the lights indicating you can go straight. There should be 3 lights not 4.
  • Stillwater Ave On/Off Ramp Bangor, ME - Bangor
At the on-off ramps for I-95, there are always problems. It doesn’t take much to realize that this intersection is a huge mess. If you are a commuter trying to get to work, coming off of the highway at exit 186, you better plan for some extra time at this intersection. First of all, if you need to turn left to go towards Broadway, think again. Left hand turns at the light are not permitted. Most drivers don’t know that because the sign that shows no left hand turns is located on the island between the people entering the on ramp, and the vehicles exiting. If you are one of the first cars in the unnecessarily long line of vehicles, you probably won’t see that sign. The no-left turn sign should also be located on the light, so it is not missed.
Another problem that I’ve noticed every time I exit at 186, is that there is only 3 lanes of traffic. There are two right turning lanes, and all the way to left is the lane where you can only go straight. If there are only 3 lanes, then why on earth are there four signs on the light cable? Yes, two signs that correspond to the two right turning lanes are necessary. However, why are there two signs indicating the one lane that is allowed to go straight? Many drivers get mistaken, and think that the middle lane is a lane to go straight, when it’s actually a right turning lane. This backs up traffic hugely, because once the mistake is made, you will never be able to sneak into the lane you should be in. You will have to risk going straight and getting hit by another vehicle, or turn right and tack on extra inconvenient minutes to your trip.
Sometimes, the light to go straight doesn’t turn green at all. Why? Because if you aren’t exactly at the stop line, the light won’t change. If the town would actually paint these stopping lines, maybe stopping at them would be a little easier. I work at the mall across the intersection and I can’t count on both hands how many times I’ve had to wait for almost 10 minutes at that light, before I’ve had to run a red light. Since you can’t see the line to stop at, most people go too far ahead, and the light doesn’t register your vehicle. So the light won’t change at all, but the right turning lane will turn green. Unfortunately, trying to turn into the right turning lane is almost a promise to get hit with the amount of cars coming through at 35 mph. Not only that, but the lanes are angled, so even if you want to turn into the other lane, it’s almost impossible to tell if there is another car coming unless you have a passenger to help you.
Amongst those extremely annoying problems, the lights at this intersection take a good few minutes to change, and when they finally do, they last long enough for only a few cars to pass through. This aggravates many drivers, who then just run the light and then delay the other cars from being able to proceed with their green light. That’s only if they are paying attention. If they aren’t paying attention, they see the green light and just go, and hit the car who is running a red light.
Please do something about this intersection, and lessen the stress and frustration for everyone who needs to use it.
  • Broadway Bangor, ME - Bangor
Please do away with the merge lane just before the Mary Snow School Zone. There is a traffic light at the corner of Broadway and the entrance of Center St that people race to cut each other off so they can get through the light quicker. There are road rage issues at times and it's just before the 15 mph school zone. I'm surprised a child has not been injured or worse yet, killed.
  • Stillwater Ave & Interstate 95 Bangor, ME - Bangor
After turning off on exit 186 going north on I-95, there are four traffic lights for three lanes. Many people believe that the middle can go straight or turn right, so whoever tries to turn right in the middle lane is stuck waiting for the person going straight. When the person in the middle lane does try to go straight, they cut others off, causing a driving hazard. There desperately needs to be only three lights at this intersection.
  • Stillwater Ave & Interstate 95 Bangor, ME - Bangor
The I95 off ramps funnel into three lanes, ( none of which are marked on the pavement, the exception at the intersection, all other lanes are marked) one goes straight only, ( to Kohl's) the other two go right onto Stillwater Ave. The light going straight lets about 4-5 cars thru @ a time. The cars were backed up the ramp to I95 last weekend. Cars get in the center lane (going rt.) but attempt 2 go straight, blocking the center rt. turn lane. Marking the pavement @ that off-ramp would most helpful 2 motorists as the signage is small too high. Who designs this stuff??
  • State St Bangor, ME - Bangor
This light is probably here because there is some code or ordinance requiring it, but it's only a few people that live in the old waterworks, they don't need a dedicated traffic light. Every time I have to stop, it's for nothing, there isn't even anyone trying to get out. Remove this light and save all of us time and gasoline.
  • Burleigh Rd Bangor, ME - Bangor
light at the intersection of Broadway and Burleigh Road needs to be checked, and why does it take so long to change? seems like a very long time
