  • 112 Roosevelt Saint Ext New Haven, Connecticut - Quinnipiac
I frequently hike from the condos into the Woods and I noticed a few months ago that a ramp has been built from the last house on this street into the Bishop Woods Bird Sanctuary, where ATV use is illegal. Where is the Parks Dept? The NH Police? This is illegal; this area is not a park for people to trash at will. It is a sanctuary for birds and for non-destructive use by people.

  • Dump Rd New Haven, CT 06513, USA - Cedar Hill

There is a lack of signage or visible street numbers around the Recycling Center.

The City website (at http://www.cityofnewhaven.com/PublicWorks/recycling/index.asp) lists the address as 260 Middletown Avenue. If you map this address online or using GPS its way off. In reality the Recycling Center is on Dump Road.

If we want people to recycle we have to make the facilities easy to find.

  • 179 Foxon Hill Road New Haven, CT - Quinnipiac
Resident is requesting to have the front of her property inspected. Street was paved a year ago. This property is near the corner of Foxon Hill Road and Quinnipiac which has a little bit of a down slope. There's no curbing or storm drain in front of her property or storm drain. So when it rains flooding occurs and water gets inside her basement. She claims it is causing erosion to her front lawn and damaging the newly paved street.
  • North Of Route 80 New Haven, CT - Quinnipiac
I know some folks claim this issue is better than years past. But it truly depends on where you are in New Haven. North of Rte 80 the vehicles are everywhere and it seems New Haven Police ignore the part of New Haven that is North of Rte 80. We are still New Haven! These bikes and vehicles are illegal! Even the New Haven Register posted a photo 9/16 of a 9 year old on a dirt bike riding through Ashmun Park and titled it "Out for a Spin"! NO mention of the fact that he's a kid and shouldn't be riding on public streets or property. Come on, New Haven Police: it's illegal. Stop ignoring our calls and acting like you're doing us a favor for doing your jobs. There were a few police cars in the summer after local TV news did stories on ATVs and dirt bikes flying up streets and into Bishop Woods Bird Sanctuary (which they're destroying at will). We do pay taxes and I shouldn't have to smell their exhaust in my yard, listen to their non-muffled engines, and have 5 year olds on quads almost hit me as I drive up my street.
  • Quinnipiac Avenue New Haven, CT - Quinnipiac

On a fairly consistant basis, there's a series of guys who ride up and down the streets in this area on dirt bikes, which is problem enough. They're illegal and loud, to begin with.

The worst of it, however, comes from a group of older teenagers who ride in a pack of about 5 or 6... three of which are regularly doing wheelies for incredibly long stretches of road. Sometimes they're together, sometimes it's just the one doing a wheelie. Regardless, I've almost hit the kid doing a wheelie a few times, and so has my roommate. Since he obviously can't see in front of him, he tends to veer into the way of oncoming traffic. One time he was so far into my lane, I was almost positive that he was just going to run straight into my car so I pulled all the way over to the right and stopped. It's ridiculous.

I know this is a tough one to deal with. I read another article about kids on dirt bikes around Grasso and how one fled when police tried to pull him over, and then he jumped the curb and ran over a child. I figure it doesn't hurt to bring up again though, for everyone's safety.
