Notified About

  • 112 Roosevelt Saint Ext New Haven, Connecticut - Quinnipiac
I frequently hike from the condos into the Woods and I noticed a few months ago that a ramp has been built from the last house on this street into the Bishop Woods Bird Sanctuary, where ATV use is illegal. Where is the Parks Dept? The NH Police? This is illegal; this area is not a park for people to trash at will. It is a sanctuary for birds and for non-destructive use by people.

  • Dump Rd New Haven, CT 06513, USA - Cedar Hill

There is a lack of signage or visible street numbers around the Recycling Center.

The City website (at http://www.cityofnewhaven.com/PublicWorks/recycling/index.asp) lists the address as 260 Middletown Avenue. If you map this address online or using GPS its way off. In reality the Recycling Center is on Dump Road.

If we want people to recycle we have to make the facilities easy to find.

  • Quinnipiac Avenue New Haven, CT - Quinnipiac

On a fairly consistant basis, there's a series of guys who ride up and down the streets in this area on dirt bikes, which is problem enough. They're illegal and loud, to begin with.

The worst of it, however, comes from a group of older teenagers who ride in a pack of about 5 or 6... three of which are regularly doing wheelies for incredibly long stretches of road. Sometimes they're together, sometimes it's just the one doing a wheelie. Regardless, I've almost hit the kid doing a wheelie a few times, and so has my roommate. Since he obviously can't see in front of him, he tends to veer into the way of oncoming traffic. One time he was so far into my lane, I was almost positive that he was just going to run straight into my car so I pulled all the way over to the right and stopped. It's ridiculous.

I know this is a tough one to deal with. I read another article about kids on dirt bikes around Grasso and how one fled when police tried to pull him over, and then he jumped the curb and ran over a child. I figure it doesn't hurt to bring up again though, for everyone's safety.

  • 1425 Quinnipiac Avenue New Haven, Connecticut - Quinnipiac
Once again the 18 year old male that lives at 1425 Quinnipiac Ave Unit 301 was out of control. Police were called several times, once when he was fighting with his grandmother, once when he beat up his mother and on 5-26 when he had an unsupervised party with minors and a girl ran out. Witnesses saw two males slapping her in the face. She ran away sceraming that a part of her lower female anatomy was hurting, which might mean that she was sexually asssaulted. Police saw her on other street and she was uncooperative. Police did not go to 1425 Quinnipiac unit 301 to question anyone. There have been complaints about marijuana smoking at the same address and kids sitting on the cars of other tenants. What does one have to do to get this matter resolved? There is an audio of the event.

  • 44 Palmieri Ave New Haven, Connecticut - Quinnipiac

Green dirt bike and children under 16 on scooters riding up and down the street every weekend and nobody does anything about it. The guy on the dirt bike does wheelies and may lose control and hit Bootywoop truck. Or may hit the kids who play basketball in the middle of the street. It use to be a quiet neighborhood but is going down hill fast. People just don't appreciate the quality of life anymore.

    Please fix this

  • 72 Middletown Avenue New Haven, Connecticut - Quinnipiac

3 pm this afternoon, 4 ATVs flying down Middletown from Clinton to Front Street, pulling wheelies. The usual.

So, there was some success last year using the new law on illegal dirt bike and ATV activity. I'm hoping the police department is able to track down addresses and locations of these ATVs and dirt bikes and confiscate them asap. But concerned that kids have learned from last summer and now slicker about where they hide their bikes.

  • North Of Route 80 New Haven, CT - Quinnipiac
I know some folks claim this issue is better than years past. But it truly depends on where you are in New Haven. North of Rte 80 the vehicles are everywhere and it seems New Haven Police ignore the part of New Haven that is North of Rte 80. We are still New Haven! These bikes and vehicles are illegal! Even the New Haven Register posted a photo 9/16 of a 9 year old on a dirt bike riding through Ashmun Park and titled it "Out for a Spin"! NO mention of the fact that he's a kid and shouldn't be riding on public streets or property. Come on, New Haven Police: it's illegal. Stop ignoring our calls and acting like you're doing us a favor for doing your jobs. There were a few police cars in the summer after local TV news did stories on ATVs and dirt bikes flying up streets and into Bishop Woods Bird Sanctuary (which they're destroying at will). We do pay taxes and I shouldn't have to smell their exhaust in my yard, listen to their non-muffled engines, and have 5 year olds on quads almost hit me as I drive up my street.
