  • 55th Street And Dover Intersection Oakland, California - Bushrod

A crosswalk has been needed for years at the intersection of 55th Street and Dover, between MLK and Shattuck Avenue. Cars drive at advanced speeds and pass other cars since the street is quite wide (even with the addition of the bike lanes neighbors suggested). Due to its location between several freeway on and off ramps, along with the street's width, drivers treat this stretch of road as a freeway extension. At the residential intersection of 55th and Dover, residents and neighborhood visitors and Children's Hospital Oakland employees (often children and seniors) routinely cross to reach the hospital, the popular Dover Street Park (@Dover/59th), the North Senior Oakland Senior Center, CHORI, and the bus stops (two well-used AC Transit lines run down 55th Street) on either side of the street. Although not a formal bike route, Dover Street is also heavily utilized by bicyclists. Crossing for pedestrians and bikers is often an impossible task due to the lack of signage and a steady stream of speeding cars (some passing other cars in the oncoming lane at even higher speeds). It is particularly difficult to cross during the winter, when residents coming home from work must disembark from buses and try to cross the street after dark (and sometimes in the rain). Pedestrians, bicyclists, and drivers would benefit greatly from a large reflective thermoplast crosswalk and reflective signage at 55th/Dover to alert drivers to the presence of pedestrians (particularly children and seniors) for whom they should slow down.

  • 2219-2399 Wood Street Oakland, California - Clawson

Several neighbors have fallen on their bikes on this street, as it still contains embedded tracks parallel to the direction of traffic, and questionably in the middle of the road. There are zero traffic markings, so it becomes double dangerous, as cyclists (or motorists!) must guess the intention of oncoming traffic, as to where they believe the left- and right-hand lanes should be. This road needs decades-since-active rails removed, a resurfacing, and better traffic markings. As this neighborhood grows, Wood Street has great potential to be bike boulevard, connecting Oakland residences to Emeryville (and Oakland) businesses.

  • 18th And Campbell Oakland, CA 94607, USA - Prescott Oakland Point

18th Street from Wood to Mandela Parkway has railroad tracks running the length and it appears they are no longer used. They are in terrible shape with damaged asphalt, dozens of what I'd refer to as potholes, exposed support wood, grass growing in the cracks, and exposed rail hardware leaving the road dangerous for bicyclists, kids, the elderly, cars, etc. NEEDS TO BE REPAIRED or REMOVED.

  • 2101 Webster St. Oakland, California - Downtown

Please stop the valet service at 2101 Webster Street from routinely double parking in and blocking the dedicated bike lanes as part of its normal operations. This is not a once-in-a-while thing, but every day. Please send parking enforcement to ticket these vehicles and encourage the valet service to move operations to a more suitable location.

Continued valet parking in bike lane forces cyclists into lanes . This is an ongoing issue.

  • Gigantic Pothole Acknowledged
63rd St & Vallejo Oakland, CA - Golden Gate

I reported this 11/25/12. Recently sent a message to public works. Pothole right at stop sign. Cars get stuck in it. I almost fell off my motorcycle while stopping in it. Some biker, both motorized and non-motorized is going to crash here.

  • 2101 Webster Street Oakland, CA - Downtown

Southbound Webster Street is a busy bike lake with heavy morning commute traffic with bicycles and vehicles. The 2101 Webster Valet Parking and Laundry create large numbers of double parking cars on a daily basis blocking the bike lane, even if there is curb space. This creates a hazard for bicyclists who are forces into the traffic lane.

  • 53rd Street And Market Street Oakland, CA 94608, Oakland, California - Santa Fe

This intersection is notorious for people speeding through the stop signs. I was involved in a collision on Saturday, June 8th, due to someone not stopping on Market Street going South after I already stopped on 53rd and was entering the intersection. The very next morning while walking my dog, I saw an 18-wheeler blow through the stop sign as well! The person on 53rd was lucky enough to stop in time and beep their horn after the fact. I was not. Neighbors who witnessed the accident agree this area is a troublesome and dangerous intersection, for walkers, bikers and drivers alike.

  • 5511 Genoa Street Oakland, California - Santa Fe

Traffic calming measures are needed for the streach of 55th street specifically between MLK and Adeline street. Every day cars drive at advanced speeds or even pass other cars since the street is so wide. Due to a combination of proximity to the freeway on and off ramps, and width of street cars treat this stretch of road as a freeway extension. The area in question is fully residential filled with children and older residents. Genoa is also a bike blvd and attempting to cross the street at Genoa is a difficult task due to no signage and a steady stream of speeding cars. This street could benefit from a four way stop with signage at Genoa and a traffic circle. Thank you

  • 301-349 21st St Oakland, CA 94612, USA - Downtown

Morning drop off of 6-10 cars for valet parking (is there a permit for this?) in the bike lane. Safety issue, and double parking is illegal.

  • 55th And Telegraph Oakland, CA - Shafter

This half-mile stretch is riddled with potholes, some are big enough to unseat people on bikes, all are making driving telegraph like navigating a maze.

  • 40th & Webster Oakland, CA - Mosswood

One sticker on this street sign displays an assault rifle, which is not something we should promote in Oakland. Another belongs to Manifesto Bicycles which, just two doors away, should know better.
