public safety/speeding ArchivedKnollcrest Dr And Scarborough Rd Cumberland, Rhode Island - Cumberland HillThis concerns increased traffic and speeding during the week when the high school is in session.Numerous cars/trucks use this neighborhood as a means to get to the high school to avoid :Mendon Road. Students are sitting through neighborhood yards off Scarborough Rd as well as parking on the street for the duration of classes. I watched a female student this morning park her Lexus on Knollcrest then walk through someone's yard to go to school. RI license plate DR. There have been many "near misses" with cars speeding up and the down streets of this neighborhood. It starts around 6:45 am and lasts until approx 7:15am. The posted signs do no good. It is impossible to walk safely during that period with people stopping on the curve of Scarborough Rd for drop-offs. Please help us - it is only getting worse Thank you

Is it possible to use less sand? ArchivedCanning St Cumberland, Rhode Island - Cumberland Hill
Hi, we always appreciate how hard the town works to clear the roads of snow and ice.
But, is it possible to use less sand?
We haven't had a big snowstorm yet and our streets looks like a beach. The problem is particularly bad on small side roads, where the sand truck drops sand going both ways on the street.
This sand stays in place and makes a general mess all winter, spring, and into the summer. I know the town comes by to sweep up the sand, but it's usually not enough and homeowners end up sweeping the streets.
Please consider this, especially for the small side-roads where there is very little traffic.
