Is anyone else sick and tired of Ross Valve polluting our neighborhood?

They'll tell you that their emissions are 100% legal but that's a lie.

The DEC is currently trying to force Ross Valve to clean up their emissions but Ross Valve refuses.

The DEC case against Ross Valve has been going on for years.

The Coke (coal by-product) they burn emits massive amounts of poisonous sulpher into the air of our neighborhood.

You've probably noticed that they almost only pollute at night now. This is because Seton Health and St Marys hospital are less active. Seton Health and St Marys hospital have both complained about Ross Valve but still, nothing happens.

What does it take to make Ross Valve stop sending poisonous fumes into our neighborhood?

A traffic light is needed at Oakwood Ave and Frear Park Rd,( Death Trap )
  • 454 Hoosick St Troy, NY 12180, USA - Troy
need to improve notification of traffic merge/right lane ending on Hoosick Street eastbound just above South Lake Avenue
  • Intersection Of Oakwood Ave And Sausse Ave Troy, NY 12180, USA - Frear Park
There is a red custom van (Big Red) that is parked at the end of Sausse Ave at the intersection of Sausse and Oakwood that blocks the intersection. It blocks the sight of the stop sign and makes it difficult if not dangerous trying to turn the corner. This is especially true if someone is waiting at the end of Sausse Ave and another car is trying to enter Sausse Ave from Oakwood Ave.
  • Hoosick Street Troy, NY 12180, USA - Frear Park

Hoosick Street has inadequate crosswalks. People have been killed trying to cross this street. The city painted new lines last fall and they are almost entirely worn off.

The city or DOT needs to install heavy duty crosswalk material to represent the heavy duty usage of one of the areas busiest roadways.

  • 35-53 High St Troy, NY 12180, USA - Troy
  • 14 Oakwood Ave Troy, NY 12180, USA - Troy

14 Oakwood ave has been an eyesore in the otherwise blight free neighborhood. This is the only boarded up building on the entire street.

The city foreclosed on the property for back taxes about 2 years ago. Prior to that, the city kept taking the owner to court to force him to do something about the dilapidated building. He paid many fines but never did anything to the property.

Now, the city of Troy owns it and they won't even "pretty up" the facade like they were trying to force the previous owner to do!

Since it is wide open on both sides (doors and windows open), the building is filled with feral cats, skunks, gophers and other wildlife. Not to mention that it is has become a "playroom" for the most of the neighborhood kids. Eventually, someone is going to get hurt and the city is going to get sued.

If the city won't do the right thing for the neighborhood and demolish this building... they should at least board it up securely and paint the facade, remove all the weeds and trees etc etc etc. Make it presentable.

  • 454-498 Hoosick St Troy, NY 12180, USA - Troy
The place where road rage began! Left lane ends sign is in poor view. Large arrows should be placed directly on pavement to encourage people to get in the proper lane.
  • 3100 Sixth Ave Troy, NY - Troy

16 Oakwood Ave. Tenants moved in about 6 months ago with a HUGE rottweiler. The poor dog is relegated to the 3rd floor open back porch almost all the time. And, it barks regularly. I've spoken with the owner and the landlord. About a month ago, I even bought the owner a corrective dog collar that beeps when the dogs barks. Either it isn't working or he didn't bother putting it on the dog.

Today it's barking again. I've had enough. I call animal control and can't get through. I don't want to bother the police with this.

So... what's the deal with Troys animal control phone number listed on the TroyNY.gov website? 518-270-4640

You call it and it asks you to punch in YOUR phone number and then asks for your PIN number.

Obviously, something is screwed up there. It's been this way for months or possibly years.

If someone has a need to contact animal control... how would they do it?

  • Hoosic Road Troy, NY 12180, USA - Rensselaer County
Traffic is constantly backed up heading east out of Troy due to the light at the Price Chopper entrance. The light should be timed differently or placed on caution to keep traffic moving during rush hour.
