Fairmount Park Tree Tenders
Tree Tenders
The Fairmount Park Commission and the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (PHS) joined forces in 1993 to launch the Tree Tenders project which helps address concerns of residents about our urban forest.
Twice a year, through Tree Tenders, Philadelphia residents can take a free basic training course which teaches general tree-care, organization-building skills and grant writing. "The goal is to make each group as self-sufficient as possible," notes PHS project manager Mindy Masli

2106 Catharine St Philadelphia, PA - Schuylkill Southwest
The entire house is in a state of complete deterioration, front and back. It is most obvious in the back, with trees growing out of the house in both the 1st and second stories. Windows are shattered, the boarded up portions have come off and the backyard is a jungle of trees, weeds and garbage causing smell and rodent problems.
The sidewalk behind the home is similarly cracked and broken with trash spilling out of the broken fence.

tree removal neglect Archived2937 Cambridge Street Philadelphia, PA 19130 - Brewerytown
I received a tree from Fairmount Park one year ago that turned out to be dead at the outset. It is a very small tree and I have requested via phone, mail and fax to have it removed (I don't even want a replacement one at this point.). I would like the tree removed as soon as possible or a contact that will actually acknowledge my request. Many thanks!
