homeless AcknowledgedHedingham Blvd. Raleigh, NC - Raleigh Council District C
Near the intersection of Hedingham Blvd and Corporation Pkwy there are homeless folks living in the woods. This would not be a problem except they hoard mountains of refuse in the wooded areas visible from the street. In one spot there are remnants of a site along a small brook and the litter is strewn throughout that area. These folks are constantly harassing drivers at the New Hope/Corporation intersection and also leave remnants of their handouts all over the ground.

King Charles Raleigh, NC - East Raleigh
For months, the King Charles neighborhoods in Raleigh (Lockwood, Gatewood, Longview Gardens, Windsor Park, etc.) have been overrun with stray and loose dogs. Many neighbors (and children and dogs on leashes) have been attacked while walking or even just in their own yards. People walk carrying clubs and sticks because the encounters are so frequent. Animal Control has been notified many times in the last two years, yet the situation has not improved. Multiple neighbors report that when they call Animal Control, officers show up to pick up dogs that are sitting or laying in yards, and when the dogs move a few feet away, they shrug and leave. Meanwhile, negligent dog owners let their pets out to run the neighborhoods, or keep their fences in such disrepair that the dogs come and go as they please.
Four dogs have been in the emergency room as a result of attacks by a regularly escaping St. Bernard at 2263 Rumson Rd., and the same dog has attacked children and families on the Greenway, as well as neighbors walking on the street.
Two pit bulls and a rottweiler regularly escape from homes at the dead end of Brighton Rd near Millbank and have repeatedly attacked neighbors, children, and walking dogs.
There is a boxer mix that lives on Somerset Road between Plymouth and Crabtree who is routinely allowed to run loose in the neighborhood.
There are two German shepherds running wild on Millbank today (Animal Control has been notified, as always), and dozens of other dogs have approached myself and other neighbors on the street in the last few months. The same dogs are allowed to "escape" their yards or homes regularly, and if Animal Control catches them, they end up back outdoors again within a week.
Enough is enough. DO SOMETHING besides showing up with a leash in hand and hoping the dogs will be agreeable about leaving the neighborhood.

Raleigh Blvd And Barksdale Rd Raleigh, NC - East Raleigh
Clearer signs and/or pavement markings are needed at the intersection of Raleigh Blvd and Barksdale Dr. There are two distinct left turn lane opportunities on northbound Raleigh Blvd that are very close to one another. One is for turning left (westbound) to Barksdale, and the next is for turning left (west) on Crabtree. Frequently, a driver headed north on Raleigh Blvd gets into the left turn lane before Barksdale and continues straight through the Raleigh/Barksdale intersection, assuming that it is the turn lane for Crabtree. If drivers make this assumption, they run the risk of a head-on collision, because they will drive right through the southbound left turn lane onto Barksdale Dr. On Saturday, a driver nearly hit me head-on as I was waiting to turn left (east) on Barksdale. Fortunately, this driver was able to swerve just in time, but in doing so almost hit the another car in the next lane. It was very scary because there was no way I could have avoided getting hit by this oncoming car if they had not been able to get over.
Perhaps updated pavement markings and/or a concrete median would help drivers realize that they cannot get into the left turn lane for Crabtree early. Thanks for taking a look at this!

Signals / Signs Archived612 Barksdale Dr Raleigh, NC 27610, USA - East Raleigh
Too many vehicles park along 812 Barksdale Drive, often in violation and within 25 feet of two intersections at Rumson Rd. & Raleigh Blvd. Traffic is already heavy due to a bus stop directly across the street at 813 Barksdale, a steep hill, pedestrian foot traffic to the nearby Buckeye Greenway and many vehicles entering/exiting Raleigh Blvd. at this intersection. The addition of street-parked vehicles creates dangerous congestion and can often block traffic from Raleigh Blvd. to Rumson Rd. Please erect No Parking signs along this block of Barksdale to prevent accidents and improve the street's congestion.

Drugs and Prostitution Archived117 Idlewild Raleigh, NC - North Central
There are consistently two women that stand in front of these two new homes on Idlewild. One of them gets dropped off on the corner of Seawell and Edenton from different cars with male drivers multiple times this month. It has taken me a while to put it together, but when I saw her standing with another woman on Idlewild almost every day, it occured to me that she is a prostitute and/or drug dealer of some kind. We often get foot traffic from the business these women receive on Idlewild and there have been many instances of people who are drunk, peeing on the street, and indecent exposure from people headed to this location on Idlewild. On Seawell and Idlewild very close by this house, there are children who are often playing in the front yards. I would like to see this neighborhood become safe for children to play freely and without concern of prostitution or drugs. I plan to call the police and discuss the matter with RPD, but thought I would also post it here to see if anyone else is aware of the issue and can offer information. Thank you for your time. RPD is always incredibly responsive and quick to help solve issues in our neighborhood.
