Notified About

  • 972 State St New Haven, CT 06511, USA - Bishop-Hine

JP Demspeys is attracting motorcycles to the neighborhood that make it unliveable. This needs to stop and we need the police's help. There are three bike parked out front right now and I am waiting for an officer but I have not had luck w the police's help in the past.

We need traffic stops for decibel meters on State Street.

I thought I got a city communication saying that street sweeping was supposed to take place THROUGHOUT East Rock over the last couple of weeks. The Orange Street bike lane (heading south or "inbound") between ~Edwards Street and ~Humphrey Street is a mess: it is full of sand and gravel and is in immediate need of a cleaning. It is currently dangerous to ride on! Please escalate the street sweeping schedule here.Thank you.
  • Corner Of Edwards And Nash New Haven, CT - Bishop-Hine
There is a parking lot behind Firehouse 19 Trauma Center (corner of Nash and Edwards - parking lot is on Nash). Last night some guy was parked there, got out and urinated, then got back in his car and proceeded to role what appeared to be marijuana joints for about 15 minutes (the urinator was in the passenger seat, there was someone else in the driver's seat. They were rolling with the car's map light on, so it was pretty easy to see). We called the police to come over; they came, but too late (I only saw them drive by, pretty quickly, about 45 minutes after we called). The car was still there but the guys were no longer in it. This parking lot has been a haven lately for loitering, noise, drug activity and what appears to be prostitution activity. There needs to be major surveillance and police presence around here. We need to feel safe in our homes and community.

Handicap ramp is broken and standing water sits for weeks.
  • State Street New Haven, CT - Bishop-Hine
There is some ugly street art under the highway over pass. Bunch of pictures of people, looks like an advertisement like you see on the highway and it ruins my day every time I drive past it.
  • 129 Edwards St New Haven, CT - Bishop-Hine
During the evening and morning hours Yale Shuttle Buses (orange line) park in front of St. Joseph's Church and idle for 15 minutes at a time. It's disruptive to local residents and a source of both noise and air pollution. Yale should address this.

    Is anybody else experiencing this?
  • 2-98 Hine Pl New Haven, CT 06511, USA - Bishop-Hine

Almost hit by yet another driver blowing a red light while talking on their held-in-hand cell phone with no NHPD in sight. If I didn't defensively anticipate and react to the illegal behavior, I would have gotten smeared on my bike.
There have been a slew of recent crashes involving cyclists and pedestrians lately: many not publicized. While the occasional, publicized traffic enforcement blitzes are great for show, we need regular aggressive distracted driving enforcement over the long haul.
  • 108 Edwards St New Haven, CT 06511 - East Rock

The street is wide enough to support a bike lane -- and the amount of bike traffic it sees certainly justifies marking one off.

It's as much a matter of safety and traffic control as it is one of convenience to the large bicycling population in the area.

My co-worker has a child at Barnard--the school system told her he could be picked up here. However, since school starts, I can count on one hand the number of times he has been picked up.

I think he has been picked up/dropped off ONCE within 10 minutes of the scheduled time. The time variance is 30-45 minutes.

One time the school bus driver just kept going, with him sitting in the bus, and his mother desperately waving her down. Almost one hour later, the school figured out where her child was and had her drive over to pick him up.

Is this really not something that NHPS can handle?

Burglar broke in through back window and stole 2 laptops. Police were called. Reporting this issue so neighbors are aware of thieves in the area.
