Notified About

  • 82 Court St New Haven, CT 06511 - Wooster Square
The bridge on Court Street between State and Artizan is unbelievably dark. The same bridge on Chapel has 2 lights and yet far more people travel via Court from downtown to get home to Wooster Square. Please fix!
  • 78 Olive St New Haven, CT 06511, USA - Wooster Square

A man somehow got into the Smoothie building at around 6 p.m. on June 5 and attempted to break into two apartments. Both times he was interrupted by resident. Police were called to the scene but the man was nowhere to be found.

The suspect is a tall, lanky, light-skinned African-American man in his 40s or 50s. Bald, no facial hair, wearing a white striped dress shirt and carrying a black bag of tools.

  • Mugging Archived
71 Court St New Haven, CT 06511 - Wooster Square
Someone was mugged at around 11:45 pm by two men, one on a bike and one on foot. We called police and it took 1/2 hour to respond. After they mugged someone, they recircled Olive. This street is too dark! We need more lights and more police presence in Wooster Square.
  • 48-68 Court St New Haven, CT, 06511, USA - Wooster Square
The intersection at Court and Olive continues to be dangerous despite efforts by Traffic and Parking to resolve them. Every day, drivers ignore walkway almost running pedestrians over. City installed new "no parking" signs but drivers disregard them. This corner is dangerous. There was an accident there just last night.
  • 641-699 Chapel St New Haven, CT 06511, USA - Wooster Square
Traffic flow on Chapel goes from two lanes to one across the intersection of Olive but no lane is marked. Note the merge sign is obstructed by branches and placed only after the merge occurs. A simple fix of a turn only lane on Chapel turning left onto Olive is an easy fix and will avoid accidents.
  • 78 Olive Street New Haven, Connecticut - Wooster Square
The front of the Strouse-Adler building (Olive Street Side) is too dark at night. It does not feel safe at all. Additional lighting can make this sidewalk much safer for area residents.
  • Olive Street And Chapel Street New Haven, Connecticut - Wooster Square

This idea was raised in a thread on the Independent after the death of a pedestrian down the street at Olive and Green in October 2014.

One thought was to ask for subsidy from local residential developers bringing property on-line in the next couple of years.

I think its a great idea so I posted it here.

Vote it up if you walk, bike or drive here , like this idea and want to stay in the loop.

  • Muggings Archived
Court St New Haven, CT 06511 - Wooster Square
There have been mid-day muggings the past two weeks on Court Street, between Olive and Academy. They have happened during the DAY, during lunchtime. Neighbors say the muggers are 3 boys. I'm not sure if they are the same for each of the 4 but please keep a look out. Daylight muggings in New Haven are unthinkable.
  • 641-699 Chapel St New Haven, CT 06511, USA - Wooster Square
Coming from downtown towards Wooster Square, Chapel Street narrows from two lanes into one after Olive Street. Unfortunately, neither lane is marked as a turning- or through-lane, causing awkard (if not dangerous) merges! Two possible solutions:
    1) Mark the left lane as left-turns only, and the right lane as right turns and straight permitted, or
    2) Mark the left lane as left turns and straight permitted, and the right lane as right turns only.
  • 88 Olive Street New Haven, CT 06511, USA - Wooster Square

There is a young skunk that is either living on this UI property at the corner of Union and Court Street, or the leasing property across the street. That property is home to a law office, and is very overgrown.

Open the door of our apartment building in the skunk was right in our face, narrowly avoided getting sprayed by pulling the door shut

  • 88 Olive Street New Haven, CT 06511, USA - Wooster Square
"Stop for pedestrians in crosswalks" sign is missing. Idiots speed through this crosswalk 24 hours a day
  • Chapel Street And Olive Street New Haven, CT - Wooster Square
East bound traffic on Chapel Street suddenly merges to one lane, while Westbound traffic waits through several light changes just to turn left. Simple fix: left-hand turn lanes in both directions with arrow signals (and don't forget the left turn only signs)! Then you won't have people running lights and cutting in front of each other.
