Notified About

  • 29 Bow Street Somerville, Massachusetts - Somerville

I watched yet another cyclist get hit by a car at the Bow & Summer intersection. Fortunately he fell clear of the car's wheels, but it could have been very very bad. This intersection needs to be fixed ASAP, before someone gets seriously injured.

    The issue is this:
Cars who are traveling northwest on Bow and taking the right fork onto Summer St do NOT realize that they are making a right turn, and need to yield to bike traffic "continuing" to the left on Bow.

In the situation yesterday, the car half-passed the biker from behind, and then right-hooked him as the biker tried to continue in his lane to the left.

The design of this intersection is so obviously terrible — please please fix it before someone ends up in the hospital...

  • South St road Archived
236 Somerville Ave Somerville, Massachusetts - Somerville
South St by Twin City Plaza is a complete mess and has been this way for at least the last few years. Please repave.
  • 2-16 Dexter Street Medford, Massachusetts - Medford
The green light on Dexter Street is 5 seconds long, which is not long enough for bicyclists to get through this large intersection. The short green light combined with extremely long red light plus having to compete with oncoming traffic from the CVS parking lot means Dexter Street gets backed up past Bow Street during rush hour, as only a couple of cars can get through the intersection per light cycle. It also sets up a game of chicken between Dexter St and the CVS parking lot traffic, with people not yielding to oncoming traffic when making left turns... very dangerous. Needs either "left turns yield to oncoming traffic" signs or change so Dexter and CVS parking don't compete for the same green light, plus a longer green light.

I live within a block of this stretch of road, and the pavement is such a mess that I am always very afraid I'm going to wipe out on my motorcycle - I have to drive close to the center of the road or in the bike lane to avoid the damaged pavement, which isn't safe.

  • Union Square Somerville, MA - Somerville

Sidewalk cyclists are rampant in Union Square, in violation of the local ordinance prohibiting such activity, putting pedestrians (especially seniors and the disabled) at risk.

Why aren't these violations of public safety addressed and enforced?

  • Kenney Park Somerville Ma - Somerville
We could use a fence around the splash pad since it's right on two major roads.
  • John'S Auto Sales 181 Somerville Ave., 02143 - Somerville
Various vehicles making it difficult to walk on sidewalk, given how much of the sidewalk is being occupied by the cars. If people are required to cleared 42" of snow from sidewalks, shouldn't the standard sidewalk minimum width be 42" where possible?
  • Somerville Ave Somerville, MA - Somerville
Somerville Ave. in Union Square, especially the right lane in the area of the Stone Ave. bus stop, is in terrible shape. Riding a bicycle over this tarmac is like skiing straight down a hill of moguls. Not fun. I hope this gets fixed before my teeth are rattled from their sockets one day.
  • Sidewalk Repair Acknowledged
380 Washington Street Somerville, MA 02143, USA - Somerville
A majority of the curb, curbline, and some of the sidewalk panels are sinking between 380 and 384 Washington Street. Unsafe for cars and humans.
  • 81 Willow Ave Somerville, MA - Somerville
traffic has completely worn away the bike lane on Willow Ave, just before Highland Ave intersection. This makes cycling very dangerous due to crowding by drivers illegally bisecting the end of this street, leaving no room for cyclists to enter the northern half of Willow Ave.
