Notified About

  • Little Cresson St Philadelphia, PA - Manayunk
I have never seen a street so much in disrepair. It is actually crumbling apart and looks more like a dirt road with rocks.
  • 5030 Ridge Ave. PHILA., PA - Manayunk
overgrown weeds and eroded hill blocking sidewalk near ridge and main streets. people almost have to walk in the street to travel up ridge avenue. it will only get worse this spring/summer. very dangerous... and not HP friendly.
  • Green Lane To Shurs Lane To Ridge Ave Merge To Septa Transfer Philadelphia, PA 19127, USA - Manayunk

The entire route beginning from Main street where cars are parked on both sides of the road and where the 61 (bus) travels....a cyclist takes their life every day.
#1 Nobody behind the wheel travels speed limit (25mph) including SEPTA - - they go barreling down Main street from Green Lane to Shurs Lane to Ridge merge to SEPTA transfer, squeezing cyclists - pinning them either to a park car or squeezed by speed behind a moving car.
#2 the approach to Wissahickon transfer station during a compute is deadly. Cars spontaneously pulling to the curbside to drop off people, SEPTA pulling in and out of the turn-around, cars not wanting to accommodate the bicycle, and people moving, gathering -running across streets for buses.... CRAZY, SCARY...it will happen .someone will get hurt badly -- or it will be fatal.

Sharrows were put down early June - GREAT 1st step. Hoping step 2 and 3 will follow. Enforcement of travel speed and a solution to the disastrous Wissahickon SEPTA transfer station.

  • Schuylkill River Trail - Philadelphia To Valley Forge Philadelphia, PA 19127, USA - Manayunk
SEPTA buses drive straight into traffic eastbound on Ridge Ave against the light. There are traffic lights here specifically to meter traffic and allow buses an opportunity to pull onto Ridge yet bus drivers routinely ignore the lights, stopping both lanes of traffic. Traffic heading east will have a green light yet the bus drivers expect cars to yield to buses out of their own sense of self-preservation. This causes backups during rush hour and is even more of a problem when there is snow or ice on the ground and traffic with the right of way cannot stop for the bus running the red light.
  • 5201 Ridge Ave Philadelphia, PA 19128 - Wissahickon
During rush hour, there's always a crowd of people trying to cross over Ridge Ave when they get off the train. Everyone ends up jumping out in front of rush hour traffic to get across. It would be nice to have a stop sign or streetlight here before someone gets hit.
  • All Of Manayunk!! Philadelphia, PA - Manayunk
  • 5134 Rochelle Ave Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - Wissahickon
A junkyard has popped up at the corner of Ridge and Rochelle. Owner blocks the sidewalk with stacks of tires and junk cars forcing pedestrians to walk in the street.
  • 4045 Cresson St Philadelphia, PA 19127, USA - Manayunk
Cresson Street, a major neighborhood road, still has several inches of loose snow, and it is extremely difficult to drive on.
  • Wissahickon Bike Trail Philadelphia, PA 19128, USA - Manayunk

10/21/10 while biking to work i came across a PWD work crew of about 15 workers attempting to remove debris from the river. they failed to secure their work area and berated me for not interpreting a plastic "detour" sign as a closed road. they cursed at me repeatedly while laughing and literally threatened me to get back up the hill. despite refusing me passage, they let other people pass from the other side of the path. this is discriminatory and unprofessional.

there were a number of employees, they could have taped off the path and stationed someone at the top of the hill. they actually did so, but only after i told them they should.

I don't appreciate being threatened by phila employees. They gave no prior notice of the plan to close the path. Not a single one of them was wearing a hard hat. Typical water department incompetence.

They refused to give me their names or their supervisor's full name, identifying him only as "oneill."

When they did start operating the crane, they failed to choose a large enough strap to pull thousands of pounds of waterlogged debris from the creek. The strap snapped, sending a huge block and tackle flying at the crowd of employees who were standing directly between the crane and truck. It's a miracle no one was killed. They yelled up that it should have been me in the path of the block. Nice. Thanks guys.

It should be noted that I encounter numerous work crews on this path and route. They're all professionals (fairmount park, subcontracted construction, subcontracted landscapers). The PWD stands out as a bunch of goons. This is unacceptable.

  • 5000-5098 Ridge Ave Philadelphia, PA 19128, USA - Manayunk
A lot of litter can be seen all over the hill next to Tommy Gun's on ridge? Who owns that property? Who is responsible for maintaining that piece of land? it looks terrible.
  • Hermit St & Ridge Avenue Philadelphia, PA - Wissahickon

The stormwater management on this TD Bank construction site is very poor. Last night, during the rain, there was a huge stream of mud coming off the site. Construction is supposed to control for this kind of thing.

You can see three photos here:

What's funny about this is that right behind the workers they have a sign that says: "Coming soon and going green." If you aren't careful about managing stormwater while doing construction, you don't care about going green. These workers are cleaning up the mess in hopes that they won't get slapped with a violation.

  • 4907 Ridge Ave Philadelphia, PA 19128 - Manayunk
The sidewalk on the norths side of Ridge Avenue is covered with weeds and vegetation. This forces pedestrians too close to fast-moving traffic on Ridge.
