Crosswalk buttons do not activate East Lake walk sign, creating a dangerous situation for pedestrians. In addition, the crosswalk sign is attached to a pole that is behind another pole making it difficult for pedestrians, and impossible for drivers, to see.

Motorists park westbound on East Lake Dr near the entrance of the Hop N' Shop Food Store, narrowing the available space available for the westbound right-of-way traffic as they approach the Oakview Rd.-East Lake Dr. intersection. In addition, cars backing out of the Karvarna parking lot do not have the full road available to them, increasing the risk for an accident. I have personally witnessed one accident in this location as a car leaving a Karvarna parking space backed into a vehicle parked westbound on East Lake Dr.

Paint on all of the speed bumps on Mead Rd, the location of Oakhurst Elementary School, is faded or gone. This results in motorists approaching the speed bumps at a rate of speed higher than they would if the speed bumps were properly indicated by road paint.

On the south side of the intersection, northbound traffic's left lane has a straight or left arrow painted on the roadway. The right lane has a straight-only arrow. The confusion lies in what is considered "straight" for the left and right lanes. Right lane traffic physically points toward the exit (confusingly called East Lake Dr also) to W College Ave. Left lane traffic physically points towards the right lane of East Lake Dr that is located on the north side of the intersection. Because there are no painted guidelines through the intersection, confusion can occur as northbound traffic in the "right straight" lane on the south side of the intersection divert to the right lane of East Lake Dr in the middle of the intersection, causing the potential for a collision with traffic in the "left straight" lane on the south side of the intersection who are targeting for the same right lane on East Lake Dr. A painted guideline through this intersection would eliminate confusion regarding lane ownership.

A right turn onto Briarcliff Rd NE from The By-Way NE is a blind turn due to the lower elevation of The By-Way NE coupled with the tree line blocking the view of oncoming traffic from the SW. In addition, a right turn on red can be a danger to SW-bound Briarcliff traffic in the left turn lane. The NE-bound lane and SW-bound turn lane on Briarcliff are narrow. Often, vehicles making a right turn from The By-Way NE onto Briarcliff will clip the curb or risk entering the SW-bound Briarcliff turn lane.

When NB Candler has green and RR gates are down, keep traffic flowing by routing NB traffic to EB College Ave via a lighted conditional sign where they can continue NB on Commerce via the underpass.

Westbound traffic on College Ave turning onto Candler faces dangerous conditions in addition to heavy oncoming traffic. The abnormal geometry of the intersection shrinks the window of opportunity for turns and keeps cars from inching forward to anticipate an opportunity, backing up traffic and encouraging chance taking. Eastbound turning traffic cannot sufficiently see past westbound vehicles waiting to turn.
