Outside Doc's, the pull handle of the Big Belly trash compactor is still dysfunctional. It doesn't open easily and the hinge of the pull door is loose. Because of this, there is litter around the Big Belly instead of inside it, and the litter is more likely to end up in Puget Sound. This problem was reported a couple weeks ago.

Full - not opening. Please empty asap

The Big Belly in Town Square is full -- the container will not open. Have the new batteries been ordered for all the Big Bellies? The batteries last 5-7 years. I believe we are on year seven or eight. Jim Poss, Big Belly inventor, has emailed Kellie Stickney about them, saying, "just like a car battery, they need to be replaced from time to time. They are 99%+ recyclable, and about $30. Even better, would be to get them connected to the internet again, as the management can then be done from anywhere in the world, and Bigbelly service dept. can alert the city before any problems arise." I believe he still lives on Bainbridge because he also offered to help/guide the replacement process.
Blackbird's wasn't working the week before and filled up by noon, as did the trash container behind it, leaving the paired recycling container as the only hole for trash disposal. Please install the new batteries ASAP!!! Thank you.

Big Belly in Town Square won't open. Happened toward end of farmers' market -- had opened earlier during the market.

Once again, the red light is on on the Big Belly in Town Square. It happened at the end of the farmers' market. It has happened with this Big Belly a couple other times this summer. Is the Big Belly not being emptied during the "Caution, it's getting full" phase (if such a phase exists)? I know Bainbridge Disposal is emptying the Big Bellies on Winslow Way every day during the summer. Are they responsible for this one, too, or is it a public works job?

Big Belly light is red (=no longer opening to accept trash); east end trash can subsequently packed. East end trash can was attended to on July 9, noon, by a BI Zero Waste farmers' market volunteer (meaning, compostables and recyclables transferred to farmers' market compost/recycling bins )

About two weeks ago, traveling down Battle Point by car. Dark plastic fencing in middle of street (from an unsecured load, perhaps?). With assistance, moved to side of road. It's still there. Can you please remove? Thanks.
