I don't know why they think this is okay, but once again this year the business, Church of the Resurrection, has decreed that in order to use the sidewalk you have to either walk 50 feet around into their unsalted lot or endanger yourself further by walking into the street around the blind snow pile. this is not okay. I walk it daily and am tired of fearing for my life because of their incompetence in clearing the snow from their walk as mandated by the city. someone is going to get hurt.

This dumpster completely blocks the sidewalk. Need to go into the street to pass it.

Yesterday after CATA did not clear their bus stop, the driver had the audacity to chastise me for not using a near by driveway to get to the bus. Because they had not cleared their stop. Well, the driveway was not clear either, as seen in pictures. Why is CATA relying on private homeowners to clear their drivers to get to buses anyway?!? I hope their lack of caring is remembered when CATA applies for their high speed stop down Mich Avenue.

Ice and Snow not cleared from sidewalk from 1504 - 1510 Michigan Ave., all part of the Garno Property Mgmt. They do not clear their walks. Extremely dangerous to try to walk through that block.

This dumpster is located in-between properties at 1504 and 1510 Michigan Avenue. It has been seen at this location directly behind the CATA bus stop for at least the last 6 months before starting to document it, where I have often seen a man emptying a hauling trailer contents into it. The garbage goes everywhere, he is careless and it is disgusting. Garbage and appliances are often on the side, around, and behind the dumpster.

It appears to be nothing but a trash hauling operation located on Michigan Avenue. These are pictures taken from the CATA bus stop directly in front of it, and the same view you will see from the street. Found on Google Maps, an image before the CATA bus station was moved from the front of the Heart Center with the dumpster located in the pictures: http://goo.gl/maps/TCCXR

Since there is no drive located where the garbage dump is located, the truck must drive over the curb to empty the dumpster. It is destroying the sidewalk. Is the owner going to pay to repave the sidewalk he is destroying, or the taxpayers?

The CATA bus stop was moved in 2012, so this has been going on for almost three years at least, probably longer. A garbage dump leading up to the capitol of Michigan is probably not the best image for Lansing to be putting forth. Reported to city council member through email on 7/15/13. Premise inspector sent out afternoon of 7/17/13. That is the last I have heard. New pictures added since.

I think it's time this is removed from the street leading up to our capital.

There is a pile of garbage next to the front porch. Not really sure what residents are thinking.

Since you only seem to respond to new complaints, I'm bringing this up again. I tried to speak to them but I don't think they got the message. Please send somebody around to notify them of the city rules about storing garbage on the curb, preferably in Espanol. Picture taken Friday, Tuesday is pickup. Original report here:

One month later and it is still a narrow walkway of ice, apparently an inspector had no problem with this. But as I fell this morning attempting to reach the bus stop, I decided I had a problem with it. This is exactly the way it has been for the last month, the ice has just been compacted because whomever's responsibility to clear it, has not done so. It is treacherous, and I am tired of climbing through it.

The area is located in front of the garbage dump that is located between 1510 and 1504 Michigan Ave.

Residents have found it necessary to only clear the snow on the path they use, from the door to their car. Leaving the rest of the sidewalk deep in snow from last weeks snowfall. Repeat, last weeks snowfall. I thought Lansing was cracking down on this? It was already reported last week.
  • 1504 Michigan Ave Lansing, MI - Lansing
Pedestrians have clearly trampled their own path because the property owner still has not cleared a path one week after snowfall.

These residents have decided it is okay to keep their garbage bin and recycling curbside all week long. It is literally always on the curb. It is usually overflowing, and animals and pests drag garbage around during the week. Unsightly and annoying, there is an ordinance about taking your garbage in and should be enforced.
