  • 77 - 137 Abbe Ln Clifton, NJ - Clifton

From #77 to approximately #137 Abbe Lane, both sides of the street are covered with many downed trees from the recent snow storm. Most trees & debris obstructs the flow of traffic - I'm tired of driving over trees and scratching the paint on my car because the DPW is lazy! And I say lazy because DPW was already on this street a few days ago.... they cleaned up about the first quarter of the way down the street from Van Houten Avenue & then left, never to return.

It is not fair that my neighbors & I must drive over/ through these downed tree branches and ruin the finish on our cars – it’s like driving through an obstacle course made up of large piles of felled branches & residents’ cars!! The downed tree limbs create limited visibility for drivers, especially those who do not own an SUV, like myself. It’s an unsafe condition and should have been cleaned up by now, seeing that DPW had cleared the first 25% of the length of this street already.

Get with the program, Clifton DPW! Do something about this, Mr. New Over-paid City Manager! If I was being paid what you were being paid, I’d be out there personally working alongside DPW cleaning – God forbid you get your hands/ pretty suits dirty. Clean up 100% of streets and not just what you feel like doing for the hour or two each day you work.

    Thank you.

Is the County/ DOT ever going to repair the portion of Grove Street between the Rt3 overpass and E Gate Street? Getting off Rt3 W at Grove Street is a nightmare because of the growing number of potholes.

There are two children that are of Indian heritage about the age 9-12 who galavant through the neighborhood on their push ("Razr") scooters, without helmets (a boy and a girl with long dark hair, pair). They habitually zoom out into the street, cutting off oncoming traffic. I have come close to hitting BOTH children twice in the past few weeks. Neither wear a helmet and they do not look when they dart out from in between cars. They are difficult to see as they move quickly and hide next to or in between parked cars. It is not safe and one or both of them is going to either cause an accident or be part of an accident. I am not only scared for my own safety, but scared for them as well. These two children may live in the 4th house on the left hand side of the street, close to Van Houten Avenue (white house, black & white shutters with pink bricks at their front door - may be #215). Please do something about this. I'm afraid to drive down my own street for fear of injuring these very careless children. (Even blaring the horn on my car today did not deter these two kids from cutting me off as I stopped short to avoid hitting them - they looked at me and laughed). PLEASE, get these kids off the street before they get hit by a car!!!

Neighbor Donald Jaycox of 79 Abbe Lane, Clifton, NJ is putting his snow in the street, again. He did this after the last big snow storm and is doing it again. I'm tired of this jerk thinking that he is above the law. Something needs to be done about it!!!
  • 105 Abbe Lane Clifton, NJ - Clifton

There is a Police Officer who lives at 105 Abbe Lane who has not shoveled his sidewalk - yet his driveway is clear of snow. This is not the first time he has neglected to do this. If I have to do it, he has to do it.

Also, his neighbor at 107 Abbe Lane throws snow in the street... I am tired of my neighbors "getting away" with this. It is dangerous to anyone who has to, unfortunately, drive through it.

What's good for one is good for all.

My neighbor blew his snow in the street today at about 11:45am, 12.27.10 (I have it on video... this is the link to my video of him putting snow in the street: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kpycwGwYFMk ). I want to know how it is fair that this person does not get a ticket for throwing a large quantity of snow from his property in the street, nevermind him putting all the snow from his driveway on our property and not his own and also letting his dogs defecate on my lawn this morning. This man is rude - what a terrible neighbor to have. And you just know he won't clean up the snow he put in the street... and the street was plowed a few hours prior to this jerk putting snow from his property in the street.

    Mayor Jim,
Please send someone/ something to get my neighbors to pay attention to their two, Jack Russell Terriers. The dogs bark constantly. They are barking right now. They have been barking, unprovoked, for years. They were outside barking in their yard last night at midnight for at least 1/2 hour. It's 9:37pm and they are again outside barking. The windows in my house are closed and we hear barking all day long. The barking is louder than the volume on my television, the barking is louder than the construction on the Grove St./ Rt. 46 bridge construction. The barking is annoying. I wake up to barking every day. I go to sleep to the barking every day. I eat my meals during the barking every day.... it's hours and hours of non-stop barking, barking, barking, BARKING!!!!! How can we put a stop to it?? It's annoying and I'm tired of complaining to you about this without any result.
  • 77 Abbe Lane Clifton, NJ - Clifton
This is NOT an emergency, but the potholes in front of my house are growing on a daily basis... the more rain we get, the bigger they grow. It'd be great if they got filled the next time a "crew" was in the area filling other potholes. Thank you!!!
  • 79 Abbe Lane Clifton, nj - Clifton
My neighbors at 79 Abbe Lane have two dogs that DO NOT shut up! They bark continuously throughout the day, starting early in the morning until late in the evening, every day since they adopted them a few years ago (for example: it's 9:29pm, August 30th. I've been home from work since approximately 7pm and they have been barking the ENTIRE TIME!). I don't want to anger my neighbors, but they neglect their poor little dogs daily. I wake up to them barking and I go to sleep with them barking. Enough is enough. Please help my family gain some peace and quiet.
  • Grove Street @ Route 46 Overpass Clifton, NJ 07013, USA - Clifton

    Dear Mayor Jim,
Is there anyway to lower the speed limit in the construction zone located at the bridge on Grove Street over Route 46? We live right next to this area. The tractor trailors and other large vehicles that whizz on by make so much noise that it wakes us from a dead sleep. Why has the speed limit not been lowered from 35mph to 25mph at this location? Please help us, as we have endured living through these nightmare* conditions since December of 2009. Thank you.

*Nightmare as-in: it's bad enough that our neighbors at 79 Abbe Lane own two dogs that bark constantly all day long, every day of their miserable little lives (for the past few years), but the noise from construction is more than disruptive to our daily lives, the volume of construction workers voices waking us up at ungodly hours of the morning, and the RIDICULOUS amount of dirt that has accumulated on our property & inside our home is more than annoying.

  • 1534 Van Houten Avenue Clifton, NJ 07013, USA - Clifton

There is a pool on this property located at 1534 Van Houten Avenue that is not fenced in. Per Section 304-31, part A of the City of Clifton's Ordinance states: "Except as hereinafter expressly provided, every private swimming pool shall be completely surrounded by a fence which shall be situated not less than five (5) feet distant from the edge of the pool and contain a gate of the same height and material as the fence, which shall have a lock installed thereon. Every such gate shall be kept closed and securely locked at all times except during the actual ingress and egress of any person going to or from the pool. The wall of a residence or accessory building or an existing wall or fence may be used as part of the fence surrounding the pool, provided that such use of the same shall comply in all respects with the requirements of this Article and of the Zoning Ordinance of the city governing the location of accessory uses."

The sidewalls of this pool appear to be less than 6ft in height, so section 403-31, part C shall not apply.

That said, since I have a pool and am required to fence it in, it is only fair that the same law be applied to this homeowner too. The City of Clifton cannot pick and choose who this law is applied to - either it applies to all or it does not apply. A summons needs to be issued to this owner and the situation needs to be rectified.

    Thank you, again.

  • Ridge Road & Page Avenue Lyndhurst, USA - Lyndhurst
There are recurring potholes at this intersection at the Church side of the intersection. They are deep and difficult to navigate, especially when there are parents parked in the morning dropping off their children. The entire block is a bit bumpy also, but the 4-6 potholes closest to Ridge Road are the most hazardous. Please fill them. Thank you.

The potholes on Ridge Road (On the bridge above Route 3) are the biggest, most dangerous "tank-traps" I have seen in the area - They need to be filled on a regular basis (hey, if the Wittpenn bridge in Jersey City/ Kearny has potholes filled on a daily basis, so can this bridge!) Also Marginal Road between Ridge Road and the Route 3 West ramp needs some attention. These roads have been neglected for years and are a danger to drivers - whether the result is a damaged rim, tire iron or an accident caused as a result of drivers serving to avoid damaging their own vehicles by driving directly through the potholes (some are so deep you can see the metal deck beneath exposed). Will the town of Rutherford pay for the damages caused to each and every car caused by these more than poor conditions, or will they invest a few dollars in some tar??

PLEASE FILL THESE POTHOLES AND DO IT ON A DAILY/ WEEKLY BASIS - The roads are a direct reflection of the quality of the town - it's an indication that shows the town doesn't care... That's pathetic.

  • 226 Abbe Lane Clifton, NJ 07013, USA - Clifton

At or about 226 Abbe Lane, there are commercial vehicles parked on the street, quite close to the corner. They are labelled "Kitchen Vision" and add to making travel difficult at the and and only entrance/ exit to Abbe Lane. The residents do not have enough room to navigate at the entrance/ exit to the street and something needs to be done - too many cars at all hours of the day. I've already had an accident at that intersection because drivers can't get their car in/ out of the street safely. We need "No Parking Here to Corner" signs for at least the first 150ft of road on at least one side of the street - it's not safe to drive.

It also does not help that the resident across the street at 219 Abbe Lane has a van parked on the street that does not move - I've driven past it and have noticed that it appears to be used by its owner as a shed/ storage container. Is that even allowed?? Since when are residents allowed to store their belongings on a public street?

Please help make our neighborhood easier & safer to navigate. Thank you.

Now that the weather has gotten nicer, the neighborhood children are outside playing on a daily basis. They play in the street. They ride the bicycles without helmets. They hide behind parked cars and ride out unexpectedly, without looking. It's completely unsafe and their parents/ guardians are nowhere to be found. Myself and other neighbors are afraid that one day a child may be hit by a car. Please help make our neighborhood safe for everyone. Thank you.
  • Abbe Lane Clifton, NJ - Clifton

Since the change in weather, numerous potholes have opened up and have become another obstacle, in addition to several COMMERCIAL VANS FROM "KITCHEN VISION" & other resident's vehicles to be parked on both sides of street near the opening of Abbe Lane @ Van Houten Ave. making access to this ONE AND ONLY inlet/ outlet of this dead end street increasingly difficult on a daily basis - there are also other potholes along the length of this street (from beginning to end).

Also there's very poor visibility at the corner of Abbe Lane & Van Houten due to a relatively new fence... (see tan house with driveway access on Van Houten & Abbe).

We were told years ago this street was to be repoaved but have yet to see that happen (no big surprise there).
