As the Director of DPW, Can Chapin Spencer please explain DPW's recent handling of SCF issues. DPW has recently taken it upon themselves to close issues prior to be resolved because the reporting user is not giving contact information. This will undermine the usefulness of SCF, remove anonymity and transparency. Thank you.

North Ave Burlington, Vermont - Burlington Electric
With the new lane configuration on North Ave. There is no place for buses to pull over. Accident waiting to happen when cars utilize the center lane to go around the Bus. Please consider changing the "bike" lane to a multi-use lane for church parking, biking, Buses, and broken down vehicles.

Illegal parking on City property. Seems to be heavily used by the nursing home across the street. This is not a new issue, but is damaging to the property. Burlington City Ordinances prohibit parking on the property of another without permission.

"Preserving outside green space like lawns, sidewalk "green belts" and tree and planting areas is important because they beautify our neighborhoods, muffle noise, clean the air, give oxygen, slow down storm water and make a healthy environment for all of us. Erosion of green space has been shown to increase run-off of toxic products. This "non-point source pollution" has been cited by the EPA as a major contributor to pollution of lakes and waterways. Preservation of grassy areas helps to keep Lake Champlain clean and healthy. Please do your part for the Lake!"

Heavily used parking lot. Most likely a private lot used by the public. Parking lot is in rough shape. Is there a City ordinance about maintaining parking lots?

Trash behind Handy' Service station. Issue was posted a few weeks back, nothings been done.
  • Vermont 127 Burlington, Vermont - Burlington Electric
Well DPW must own stock in Safelite Autoglass repair. Every year 127 chips my windshield 2-3 times, and today is no different. The amount of gravel and failed cold patch is out of hand. When is DPW going to FIX 127?

Houses on the western side of East Ave, between Bilodeau Ct and Carrigan Dr. It appears that during snow removal the plow has torn up the asphalt at the bottom of the driveways (more than one). Asphalt on greenbelt and in bike lane. Just an FYI.

Very Large pothole as you are pulling into parking lot. Between sidewalk and street (no man's land). Not sure if City owns it (road side of greenbelt) or if privately owned. Can City patch or contact owner to fix. About 1.5 feet wide. Been there a while now
  • Curtis Ave Burlington, Vermont - Burlington Electric
It appears that the entire western half of Curtis Ave needs a little attention. From Satellite dishes and trash on green belt, cardboard boxes in the road, and broken electrical boxes on the green belt. DPW should drive down the street and take a look. There are just too many things to take pictures of.

It has become apparent by recent NNE conversations that there is confusion regarding the stop signs on the bike path. Some people feel that the stop signs only apply to bicycles and pedestrians have the right of way. Pedestrians walk into traffic and bikes often ignore the stop signs. Maybe an additional sign explaining that the stop signs are for everyone on the bike path? Would appreciate some clarification on the matter. Thank you.
