Cars "rolling" stop signs along Fairfield St. Especially during morning and afternoon rush.
  • 130 Fowler Street New Haven, Connecticut - Amity
Light at Fowler and Amity Road does not cycle often enough or stay green long enough. When the light at Amity and Wright turns red the South bound traffic backs up into the intersection at Fowler and Amity. The light at Fowler and Amity generally turns red again before the light at Wright and Amity turns green so the Fowler intersection can clear. This is also and enforcement issue because cars will often come into the intersection on yellow light (shouldn't even enter it on a green if traffic is stopped) even though it is clear they will be blocking it.
  • East Rock Park Road New Haven, Connecticut - East Rock
Mattress and 7 garbage bags along walking trail.
  • 127 East Rock Road New Haven, Connecticut - Prospect Hill
Traffic signal is set to cycle the North Bound Traffic on Whitney Avenue at East Rock Rd. green to red at least twice (at slightly long but normal intervals) while leaving the Southbound light green and the cross street red. This only encourages high speed traffic on Whitney and makes the light pointless. You could normally cross the street several times without any cars nearby in the time it takes for the light to go green for E. Rock Rd.
  • 178 New Road Hamden, Connecticut - Hamden District 1
Large dangerous potholes on New Road. This road is regularly traveled by cyclists. A cyclist was injured here Tuesday April 21, and had to be taken to the Emergency Room. The people living in the house at the location came out to help and said that had lost tire in the holes on the road there. This is a public safety issue.
  • 2-26 Lawncrest Road New Haven, Connecticut - Amity
Unfortunately this intersection was recently reconstructed to update the bus stop, but did nothing to improve walk-ability or traffic flow. If anything it made the situation worse. This is a dangerous, congested, ill conceived, unnecessarily large intersection that is unfriendly to walkers an cyclists. The median for the bus puts pedestrians in the middle of a busy sometimes congested intersection. The design of this intersection creates congestion on lawn crest. Ideally the end of Lawn Crest and the west side of the intersection would be converted to community to community Green space to reduce congestion and provide traffic calming. Traffic would then be diverted to the intersection of Ramsdell and Fairfield which is better designed. At a minimum the 50' section of Lawncrest that intersects with Fountain should be blocked off , bringing Lawncrest to a right angle stop with Ramsdell (making Ramsdell a 2-way street at Fountain).
  • 56-86 Frederick Street New Haven, Connecticut - Amity
This is a dangerous intersection. Due to how it is situated between Whalley Avenue and Fountain Street this neighborhood tend to have a large amount of fast through traffic. It is also sorely lacking in green space. The intersection of Fredrick / Greenhill Terr. / Wright Avenue should be converted community green space to aid in traffic calming and improve the walkability of the neighborhood.

  • 1476-1598 Whalley Avenue New Haven, Connecticut - Amity
Large confusing intersection causes traffic congestion. Very large intersection, difficult for pedestrians and cyclists to cross. Very limited pedestrian access from Jct. of rt. 63 and 69 to Grocery stores and shopping. No sidewalks on East side of rt. 69, sidewalks on west side are dangerous for pedestrians. Sidewalks along rt. 63 northwest of the in 63/69 are in poor condition and end at rt. 15. Was told at a CMT meeting over 2 years ago that there were plans in the works to improve this area. Nothing has been improved.

  • 63-77 Wright Avenue New Haven, Connecticut - Amity
Wright Avenue feeds high speed traffic into the neighborhood and is aided with a seldom observed yield sign at Frederick street. This is an unnecessarily large intersection and the street has been designed to speed up traffic. We were told at a CMT meeting two years ago by the city planner that this intersection would be changed to come to right angles with Wright and Frederick, thus requiring a left and right turn to continue from Wright onto Green Hill terrace. Wright Ave. has since been repaved without making any changes This intersections dangerous in a car and even more so if walking or biking.
  • 958-970 Whalley Avenue New Haven, Connecticut - Westville
Wide shoulder being used to pass lines of waiting traffic on the right. Dangerous for cyclists and drivers going around traffic turning left onto Blake St. Needs barriers or better lane/shoulder marking.
  • 1158 Whalley Avenue New Haven, Connecticut - Amity
Drivers on Whalley Avenuefrequently using right turn lane to pass on the right at Dayton (rt. 122) and continue strait on Whalley. There needs to be some sort of barrier on the East side of Whalley/Dayton intersection.
  • Whalley Avenue New Haven, Connecticut - Amity
Unnecessarily long green for traffic on Whalley Avenue at Ramsdell and Dayton Street. Long signals aid in increasing speeds . Makes it difficult and time consuming for pedestrians to cross the street. Creates unnecessary delays for cross traffic. It is a dangerous stretch of road for pedestrians.

Lost a tire here. Is there a city program for pothole damage reimbursement?
  • Whalley Avenue New Haven, CT - Amity
The widening of Whalley Avenue has left no room for the very large trash bins, between Dayton St. and Davis Street. My daughter recently fell while trying to ride her bicycle between the wall and the bins left in the sidewalk. The location of the bins also cause trash and glass to be on the sidewalk. This is a potential financial liability to the city and possibly the state. Most of the parking spaces are empty whenever I go through there. I recommend blocking some of them off to store the bins at a couple spots, or provide a different type of trash container .
