Issue Reopened
2013-05-22

Great news. What about the left, southbound on Gorman to Thistledown, which turns into Main Campus Drive. There is a gas station and a hotel on the corner. The Flashing Yellow arrow would be a great option there as well. Thanks for yous help!

There is a capitl project already addressing this issue from Raleihg Oaks shopping center to the Farmer's market. They should start construction this spring. See this post for more details: http://southwestraleigh.com/2012/08/lake-wheeler-road-pedestrian-project-takes-shape/

Thanks for reporting Bev. This is most likely an NCDOT maintained road and the Raleigh Public Works folks are really good about sending those reports to NCDOT.

This is City-owned property and probably needs to be directed to Parks & Rec maintenance.

Oops, looks like the GPS uploaded the wrong address. It's Sierra Drive and Mariner Cir.

Thanks for the quick patch. What can we do about the underlying issue here? The section of Trailwood between Lineberry Drive and Thistledown is just a bunch of patchwork. We really need to consider investing in a longer-term fix, resurfacing, maybe some foundation work, instead of patching our way to a new road. I can open a new issue on this if needed.

Jason

It's at the Sam's Club Location. Sorry, GPS tagged South Wilmington and it should be South Saunders.

During my jog this morning, I saw westbound traffic backed up past Trailwood Drive. I'd never seen it like that before.

There is a need for pedestrian access here. When the City attempted to install curb, gutter, and sidewalks during the last round of road improvements, the residents along Carolina Pines didn't want to pay for these improvements. Now that the sidewalk policy has changed, it would be interesting to re-evaluate this area for sidewalks or a multi-purpose path.

This is great news. Thanks for helping with this issue. It's great to learn that the property owners are taking care of this.

Jason

I reported something similar a few weeks ago.

I've seen this happen many times and have even discussed this with Chief Dolan. He mentioned that issues like this can be solved be enforcement or engineering. I think this is a situation where police enforcement is not a viable option. It would be great to have Public Works evaluate this situation and come up with a few recommendations.

I've added the images to help resolve this problem.

I took some pictures the other day and will upload them to this issue when I pull them off my camera. To further help out, there is a fire hydrant near the problem sidewalk area along Trailwood Drive and close to the intersection of Lineberry Drive, where I placed the marker on the map.

Pics to follow.

I can. I will try to grab a picture tomorrow and more detailed info. It's basically SouthEast of the Lineberry Drive / Trailwood intersection. There are several spots so I will try to itemize the areas for you. Sorry for the delay. I've already pulled a 40 hour work week :)

It looks like the no parking sign has been replaced.
Thanks,
