Stormwater drain cover is damaged and in not place. Someone placed pallets over the opening but this could be a dangerous nuisance.

Fish kill in the city owned lake behind Shore Acres Elementary. Started today ... water clarity is decreasing and the stench/smell is increasing! Numerous fish are dead and many many more are not long for this world. Schools of 'gasping' fish at the surface on the south shoreline. Please send crew out to remove the dead & dying fish.

This lake has had another fish kill with dead fish and crabs floating near shore, poor water quality and increasing stench. It has been explained in the past that "The fish kill is a natural event that happens in many bodies of water in the area when the temperatures drop each winter" But again, as in July 2016, that does NOT explain these event. Can we please get water testing done and find a solution to this repetitive issue. This is especially concerning with its close proximity to Shore Acres Elementary School.

Dead animal floating in the city lake behind Shore Acres Elementary School. Very bloated and foul smelling. Possible water quality and public health issue. It is now near the shore behind 1775 and 1751 60th Terrace NE but is free floating and moving around lake depending on wind direction.

  • 6143 Tanglewood Drive Northeast Saint Petersburg, Florida - Shore Acres Civic Association
The No stopping, standing, parking signs on the west side of Tanglewood Drive NE are being blatantly ignored. Each and every morning since school started there is flagrant illegal parking that potentially endangers the lives of school children from Shore Acres Elementary. There is absolutely no attempt by the City Police to enforce. Tanglewood Drive just south of 62nd is utter chaos in the morning, an accident waiting to happen! I've mentioned it to some parents and they said the school administration passed along that it isn't enforced. In addition to routine patrol and enforcement. please have the School's Community Resource Officer work with the school administration to get the word out.

The water fountain mouthpiece/bubbler at Denver park adjacent to the tennis courts in mostly clogged. Instead of a nice flow of water, you get a sideways spray that is practically useless to drinking.

There appears to have been another fish kill in the city lake behind Shore Acres Elementary School. There are many birds feeding, fish floating in lake and odor is increasing. in the past it has been explained that "The fish kill is a natural event that happens in many bodies of water in the area when the temperatures drop each winter" but that explanation does NOT seem to explain this event as it is mid-summer.

The lake behind Shore Acres Elementary had a fish kill on November 3rd. (Issue ID:1347614 & 1348546) Ever since then there has been an increasingly strong noxious odor coming from the lake. There is also a repugnant white slime/scum on the surface of the lake and coating the shoreline. The water in the lake has also had an unnatural appearance to it since the fish kill. It's cloudy and almost brown in color.

Is this associated with the water treatment plant adjacent to the lake? Did something leak into the lake? Neighborhood residents and children at the school have suffered from the odor but are also at risk for respiratory inflammation. Has the city checked the water quality for safety? Do you know what the root cause of the fish kill was and is this also the cause of these other lingering issue? When identified, will there be steps in place to prevent future occurrences?

Stormwater had done some work to the drains and connection between the lake and the bay back in October - could this be related?

Thank You for your attention into this.
