There are a lot of broken bottles and glass on the sidewalk going over the Tomlinson Bridge. It could use a good (and regular) sweeping. Thanks!

With the first wonderful weekend of spring comes lots of park goers, especially to the playground. Unfortunately, this also brings a lot of trash. The parks crew does it's best to keep up, but it would be great to give this park lots more attention. Can more garbage bins also be added? By the end of the weekend, the current ones are overflowing w/ trash, which then blows around the park (making it worse) and into the yards of those of us who live across the street. Maybe some extra monitoring as police drive by will help (especially at night, when people go there to drink and smoke). LOTS of little kids live right across the street from here.

There is a mattress and other trash dumped here in the middle of East Shore Park. Also, there is a huge pile of debris - remnants from dumping snow here a couple of winters ago. It is now growing weeds and trees. It was already an eyesore - now w/ the trash, it's even worse. Please fix our beautiful park!

    Hi!
I'm home alone w/ my 3-year-old. My husband works for the City and will be at work until 2AM. The good news is that he already shoveled out from the first round of snow earlier today. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

The Traffic Dept often talks about plans to better connect Downtown to the East Shore/Morris Cove and Lighthouse Point for bike riders and bike commuters. One of the safer ways to get downtown is to cut through East Shore Park to Connecticut Ave -- avoiding Route 1 -- then continue on the sidewalk over the Tomlinson Bridge. HOWEVER, it is really difficult to get through the entrance/exit of the park to Connecticut Ave. There is a large gate that is always closed. You can pass through narrow bollards to the left of the gate but must dismount. There is also a large slab of rock partially obstructing this narrow pass-through. If you have a trailer (with a child) it is impossible to get through. Can this gate be replaced by bollards that bikes (with trailers!) can pass through??

Spring also means that hordes of parents show up at East Shore Park's baseball fields and park illegally along Woodward Avenue so they can set up camp along the road to watch their children's games. They block the entire shoulder, making this very busy road difficult to pass. I'm forced into the road for quite a stretch when I'm out running w/ my 1 year-old in a stroller. Not safe. Please ticket and tow!

It is spring, which means the arrival of illegally parked cars on the sidewalk of bridge (where people fishing off the bridge's pier park). This is a huge safety issue for cyclists who prefer to take the sidewalk over this very busy and infamously dangerous bridge. The cars are often blocking the entire sidewalk, forcing cyclists to dismount and walk on the street into oncoming traffic to get past them. I'm extremely concerned as a mom who will be soon biking with her one-year-old over this bridge. Please ticket and tow!

On just the 2nd day of classes, I have noticed piles of cigarette butts all over the sidewalks surrounding Gateway's gorgeous new campus. Smokers must throw their cigarettes in garbage cans. (Please do not install ashtrays.) Additionally, I hope Gateway administrators will consider making Gateway a smoke-free campus.

Is there anyway to cut back the branches and other foliage on the path that connects Ft Hale Park to the Seawall? It's getting very overgrown -- and summer has barely begun!
  • Nathan Hale Park New Haven, Connecticut 06512 - Downtown
A large branch has fallen onto the trail (probably from the storm on Wed night) that leads through the woods to the sea wall. It is blocking the path, forcing walkers and runners off the trail onto a muddy slope.

Horrible potholes before the bridge. Construction was done here recently, ripping up the road. The patch job for fixing the road had resulted in horrible potholes. They are awful to ride over on my bike. And they're so bad that cars routinely travel into the oncoming lane of traffic.
