It is a question of when, not if, someone will be hit by a car. The speed of cars headed south on 17th St SE between A and Independence is dangerous to drivers and pedestrians alike. For driver, parked cars on both sides of 17th St SE limit visibility for driver turning on A St onto 17th. For pedestrians, the problem is worse. The signage advising cars to slow down is inadequate as it is entirely ignored. Witnessed cars clipping or sideswiping parked cars without stopping as well as multiple car accidents. Speed bumps, a yellow light, a speed cam, or even a police officer with a speed fun would help greatly. Please address before someone gets injured or killed. This is a problem at all times of day and night. Problem occurs morning, day, and night.

This issue, which Anne Cynamon initially reported, is not resolved (despite the current status reorder by DC Gov). Our trash, which we placed by the curb in front of 1708 A Street SE on Monday night, July 25, for Tuesday collection, still needs to be picked up. It is out front and clearly marked, "1708". The last update we received said that DPW did not see any cans on D St. Perhaps DPW did not understand that our trash can is on A STREET SE, specifically 1708 A STREET SE, which is the address we placed in our initial submission. Please resolve ASAP.

Several garbage cans in the parking lot of the condo complex located at 22 17th ST. SE are attracting rats, which burrow into yards and residences behind them (1708, 1706, 1710 A ST SE). Request DC places traps next to the DC city cans and, if possible, privately managed cans.

Location: A Street between 1700 and 1800. Request a DO NOT LITTER sign with the associated fine in response to daily littering on public and private property (eg front patios). There is a long-standing pattern of littering in front of and on residents front porches, specifically but not limited to soda cans, food wrappers, food containers, and cigarette butts. The littering outstrips residents' efforts to remove the trash from sidewalks, front curbside, etc.
