  • S 51st St Richmond, California - Richmond
The only sidewalk on the south/west side of the street is blocked by a fence (at Seaport Stainless) so that the only pedestrian route is in the street or to cross at the very busy intersection which has no crosswalks or pedestrian signage. If you do elect to cross the street, you get a few blocks and then the sidewalk ends. The south/west side of the street has the only continuous sidewalk. What does it take to get sidewalks fixed here? Pedestrian fatalities? That seems to not be far off, given the number of pedestrians and cyclists that are forced into the street.
  • 1982 Pleasant Valley Avenue Oakland, California - Mountain View Cemetery
When heading north on Pleasant Valley in the vicinity of Safeway (just past Starbucks), the sidewalk abruptly ends with no advance signage, forcing pedestrians to either walk in the very busy street or walk inside the construction area.
  • 2828 Ford Street Oakland, California - South Kennedy Tract
The inductive loop that senses cars and bicyclists on Ford Street is right at the edge of oncoming traffic at 23rd Ave. In order to signal the light, you have to be almost in the intersection, which makes oncoming traffic think you are about to blow the light & also is scary (for a small cyclist to see oncoming traffic coming at them quickly with no way out). The loop should be moved back at least 3 to 5 feet. Alternatively, a camera could be installed

Both sides of highway 24 overcrossing on Shattuck & 54th have been tagged
  • 5316 Shattuck Ave Oakland, California - Shafter
Currently, there are no striped crosswalks on Shattuck between 51st & 55th streets. There is a large amount of pedestrian traffic crossing at 53rd & 54th streets but automobiles almost never stop for pedestrians. A pedestrian was recently hit by a car here and there have been many close calls. The city needs to add at least one additional striped crosswalk and pedestrian signage. The ideal location would be at the intersection of Shattuck & the 500 block of 54th Street as this seems to be the major crossing point for seniors going from the apartment complex on telegraph (driveways open to 53rd & 54th towards Shattuck) to the church on 54th daily.
