  • State St And Elliot Ave - Schenectady
The traffic light at State St & Elliot Ave / Roosevelt Ave does not stay green for State St traffic long enough and stays green for Elliot Ave / Roosevelt Ave too long. Traffic backs up so far that cars back up on the Rt 7 - Rt 5 ramp all the way to Crosstown. Most of the lights in this area of State St do not allow for enough through traffic flow on State St.

State Street was 2 lanes each direction from Balltown Rd but now with the repaving and painted lines it has eliminated a lane in each direction. Now it takes much longer to travel this section. It is now harder than ever to enter or cross as there is a long single line of traffic. Also, the lights are so poorly timed in this section. Who makes these poor decisions to reduce a lane of traffic, increase commute times, and stick everyone with poorly timed lights?

Give me back the "Old" State Street.

Eastbound on Rt 7 (Crosstown) up the ramp to Rt 5 (State St).

Most of the lights are poorly timed on State St as most of the side street traffic is 1 or 2 cars at a light change but will stay green for the side streets for much longer than that. But this is the opposite and far worse. There is only about enough time for 5 cars to pass through the light before it turns red. You often have to wait a few light changes to make a right turn. If this were to be fixed people might go that way instead of turning down Watt St. & Albany St. to get to State St. There is a no turn on red at this light also. If there was better visibility here and you could turn on red it would not be an issue.
