  • Shore Ave And Clifton Ave Salem, Massachusetts - City of Salem
Motorists are driving on the grassy median between the sidewalk and the street that runs between Shore Ave and West Ave, causing dangerous mud and ruining the appearance of this otherwise upscale, well-maintained neighborhood.
  • 17 Laurel St Salem, Massachusetts - City of Salem
Large, deep, and extremely dangerous pothole at the corner of Hazel and Laurel streets. Please fill ASAP.
  • 301 Lafayette St Salem, Massachusetts - City of Salem
Large, dangerous pothole in front of the driveway of 301 Lafayette Street.
  • 21-55 Green St Salem, Massachusetts - City of Salem
    Tree growth overtaking public sidewalk
  • 99 Canal St Salem, Massachusetts - City of Salem
Overgrown shrubs are blocking city sidewalk access. Dangerous, since the only alternative is busy Canal Street.
  • Jackson And Jefferson Streets Salem, Massachusetts - City of Salem
Branches are overgrown and blocking the public sidewalk. Appears messy, unkempt.
  • 98 Clifton Ave Salem, Massachusetts - City of Salem
    Broken fire hydrant
  • Forest River Park - City of Salem
People constantly park on the grass median between the street and the sidewalk that runs in front of the ball field at Forest River Park, between West Avenue and Shore Avenue. This chronic condition creates an ugly eyesore on in an otherwise nice neighborhood. It also creates conditions for mosquitoes to lay and hatch eggs in the spring and summer, creating an unhealthy situation for kids and parents at the park. Something can and should be done to prevent this ongoing problem.

Clifton Avenue Salem, Massachusetts - City of Salem
This may or may not be considered an "issue" per se; however, it is something that I have noticed and have conveyed to several offices and ward counselors here in Salem - so I thought I would pose this here in hopes that the matter might begin to be addressed more quickly. Along Clifton Avenue, at the end of the street closer to Lafayette, there are ample trees and shade, while on the other end, toward Shore Ave and Forest River Park, there are no trees whatsoever, until you get to the very end, at Forest River. My question: Is it possible for the City of Salem to advocate that more trees be planted at this end of Clifton, and perhaps reach out to residents at that end to inform them that they may, if they wish, request that a tree be planted in front of their property. It appears that the residents at this very "sunny" (hot) end of the street are unaware of this? Clifton could definitely use more trees at that end, as the current effect is overly sunny, hot, and dry, without any cooling shade.

Intersection Of Summit Ave And Clifton Ave Salem, Massachusetts - City of Salem
At the intersection of Summit Ave and Clifton Ave, along the new sidewalk there, there is an old stone wall, and right above that stone wall are several old trees. At one location along this wall, there is very large, tall old tree. If it ever fell, it could potentially cause great damage or injury. Along the wall, directly beneath this old tree (shown in image provided), it appears that several of the large stones have come loose and have fallen away. I am wondering if this stone "activity" might be any cause for concern? Should probably be checked out - why this is suddenly occurring.
  • Corner Of Lafayette Street And Forest Aveneu Salem, Massachusetts - City of Salem
At the corner of Lafayette Street and Forest Avenue, the sidewalk that runs parallel to Lafayette, right near the intersection, heading in the direction of downtown Salem, one of the sidewalk panels is raised quite a bit. Given the fact that this is bus stop; is in very close proximity to SSU and the O'Keefe Complex; and that it is situated on Lafayette Street, a major traffic and pedestrian thoroughfare - the height that this particular panel is raised could cause someone to trip and injure themselves. Should probably be addressed soon.
  • 75 Canal Street Salem, Massachusetts - City of Salem
This tree trimming issue is not at 75 Canal Street, but is directly across the street from 75 Canal. The many trees and shrubs that grow on the train-tracks side of the metal fence that runs the length of Canal frequently grow through the fence, and in some cases, as in this case, the trees grow over the fence and their branches can block easy access to the essential sidewalk. In this case, these trees have blocked pedestrian access to the sidewalk, and need to be trimmed. This same "issue" repeats further ahead from the 75 Canal Street location (in this image), heading toward Crosby's, at approximately the 89 Canal Street location (across the street).
  • Corner Of Cypress Street And Canal Street Salem, Massachusetts - City of Salem
At the corner of Cypress and Canal streets, near the power transfer towers lot, the low tree-growth from at least one tree, and the over-growth from 2 shrubs growing through the fence that borders the power transfer towers on Canal, have overgrown the sidewalk area, blocking access. As anyone knows who has regularly walked along Canal Street - which I do - easy and clear access to the sidewalks on both sides of the street are essential for pedestrian safety. The image provided shows the sidewalk in question, with view heading toward downtown Salem.
  • 22 Gardner Street Salem, Massachusetts - City of Salem
At 22 Gardner Street, in the front "yard" area, there is a tree that has overgrown the property and blocks easy access to the sidewalk. The tree is not on public property, so the owner would have to be informed or reminded of what is occurring, and what would be helpful to pedestrians.
  • 8 Dunlap Street Salem, Massachusetts - City of Salem
Residents at 8 Dunlap Street have a small tree/shrub growing on their property, extending beyond a chain-link fence, and partially blocking easy access to a public sidewalk. Can residents be reminded to properly maintain? This is obviously a somewhat low-priority issue. However, it is close to the Lahey Health clinic at 41 Mason Street, so the lack of access here might pose some problems for some Lahey patients, wheelchair, disabled, etc.
  • 100 Broadway Salem, Massachusetts - City of Salem
At 100 Broadway, at the corner of Rose Street, the back "yard" is filled with litter and unsightly debris. It looks like a junk yard is operating at this address. Is it a junk yard? Does this resident have the license to operate a junk yard at this address? I am concerned for neighbors re: possible rodent or other infestations, such as fleas, mites, ticks, etc. Especially considering the front and side "yards," which are horribly overgrown with weeds and tall grasses - again almost an invitation for infestations of all kinds. This situation cannot be healthy for neighbors, children, pedestrians, SSU students, etc. The resident needs to be informed to clean up their act (no pun intended). Image is taken from Rose Street, facing the rear or back yard of 100 Broadway.
  • 66 Willson Street Salem, Massachusetts - City of Salem
At 66 Willson Street, there is a public sidewalk that runs parallel to the property in front. The owners and/or the City of Salem (?) have allowed wild grasses, plants, wild shrubs, trees, etc, to overgrow into the sidewalk area, making the sidewalk virtually impossible to navigate/pass. The sidewalk needs to be made clear of overgrowth. In addition, the property itself appears to be a shambles of wild overgrowth in the front and side yards, often with trash and debris on the property. Overall, the property appears to be a public health hazard, with possible infestation problems.
  • 300 Canal Street Salem, Massachusetts - City of Salem
This issue in this case is NOT with CVS, which is always super-clean and spotless at the 300 Canal Street address. The issue is with the Tedeschi Food Shop located at 72 Loring Avenue. However, the issue with Tedeschi is that their trash/waste bin is located behind their store, and directly FACING the CVS parking lot. Lately, they have been keeping the doors to square wooden structure that houses the trash bin open, exposing the fact they are not properly disposing of the their trash OR properly maintaining the area around the bin. (See image.) I think that the managers need to be reminded of their methods of maintaining this are - because it looks really bad, as you can see, from the CVS parking lot, and most likely disturbing to CVS customers and staff.
  • 1 Lussier Street Salem, Massachusetts - City of Salem
At Nos. 1 & 3 Lussier Street (same building), the residents have placed quite a bit of trash and items to throw out in front of their house. This was noted this morning, Thursday, 8/7/14. I don't believe that their regular trash day is Thursday. I believe that this location's regular trash day is Friday. Please address with residents.
  • 213 Canal Street Salem, Massachusetts - City of Salem
I have tentatively labeled this issue as Line Painting, but it is actually a request for a crosswalk line painting. At approximately 213 Canal Street, across the street from the residences and sidewalk at that address, there is the SSU Parking Lot F. At that approximate location, there is an SSU Shuttle enclosed bus shelter. There are currently no crosswalk lines at that location, and I believe there should be. Having clearly-visible crosswalk lines here would, I believe, would encourage use of the SSU Shuttle at this location.
