Traffic on Stedman St is steadily increasing over the 43 years I've been here at #9. Over the past 2 years the '"heavy truck" traffic has increased ten-fold.
I guessing 30 or so "heavy trucks" pass this way each day and they are shaking my house. This is somewhat new. Partly because of the extra "heavy truck" traffic and partly because the road is not capable of handling the load.
There are potholes, and bumps that look small when you see them. Cars do not cause a big problem, but the "heavy trucks" pound through them and shake my house.
Please examine the road surface and see what can be done to make it capable of handling the "heavy truck" traffic.

Stedman st. sidewalk from rte 110 to Dalton rd. is unpassable after the sidewalk machine passed over it last night.
Please send the machine back to clean it up so people don't have to walk in the road.

Pot hole in front of 9 Stedman St has opened up again. It seems to open ever few months.
The area has be patched and re-patched and is in need of a full repair.

At the intersection of rte 110 and Stedman St, the street sign for Stedman St is misspelled as Steadman St.
I bought my house in 1978, the deed says Stedman St. I've been to the library and research old town maps, it was never called Steadman street, it has always been Stedman St. Please correct the signage to read Stedman St.

Note: this issue was previously reported and fixed on 04/23/2018, but the sign has been changed again. It is wrong.
The Town assessors office lists it as stedman.
My MA license says stedman.
My MA treasury checks come to stedman.
My Federal returns come to stedman.
Every peice of documetation I have sas stedman.
The street was named in 1742 for Johnathan Stedman.
There has never been a person of note in Chelmsford named steadman.

Just do an on-line search. There is plenty of information documenting Stedman in Chelmsford and none for Steaman before c. 1980.

The error seems to stem from sometime in 1980's town census report, that erroneously named it steadman and that has been propagated to junk mail senders over the years.

Large pothole on westbound side of rte 110, at mile marker 33.2.

It opens up at least once a year. It is now deep again. When truck tires hit it, the house shakes.

This is a very noisy area, all the time. Tonight, Thu June 21 2018 18:46, Moonstones has decided to pump the volume. For some outdoor party? It's way to loud for the neighborhood. Loud enough, cars at stop lights with disco thumping beats. Crazy nose. Insanity. Turn it off!

The lock on the bollard that prevents vehicle access to the trail is missing. Looks like it was forgotten after some recent trail maintenance.

Gypsy Moths: The trees on private land a 8 Golden Cove and following north east up the Bruce Freeman trail, the trees on the lefts side are infested with Gypsy Moth eggs masses.
I'm not expert and can't tell if they've already hatched or what can be done to prevent them from hatching.

It seems this needs to be repaired once or twice a year. It is a very high traffic road with lots of heavy vehicles. Is it possible to really repair it rather than just refilling it?

1. Coming south on the trail, I pressed the walk and waited. While I was crossing the rte 4 north side, a car, which had gone past the walk and then realized there was a red light, attempted to back up, very nearly hitting me.
2. Walking north across the same intersection on the 110 east side, I pressed the pedi walk and waited for the go signal. About 1/4 of the way across, a car came down fast from rte 4 , going south, right at me. I held up my hands to show she should stop, the young women flipped me off and drive right in front of me on the cross walk and continued down rte 4 south.
3. Walking north across the same intersection on the rte 4 north side, a large (oversized) pickup truck was driving right through, even though I had the walk signal, I held up my hands to show he should stop, which he did, dead center on the walk way right at the center curbing. There was no way for me to get around him other than climbing over his truck. So I waited until he went and then ran across. Very Dangerous!

These all happened in clear daylight around 14:30.
Some of this is poor driving and some of it is poor signalling and some of it is rampant disregard for pedestrians.
Other towns around have similar problems which they've "solved" by having a police presence in the town
I think a police presence, on foot or bike, not in a car, would go a long way to making people more aware of the rules that MUST be enforced. Hopefully before someone gets seriously hurt.

The pedestrian walk across rte 4 coming from rte 129 is unsafe. It signals clear to walk, but the rte 129 traffic light turning left onto rte 4 south is also green allowing both cars and pedestrian in the road at the same place at the same time.

The pedestrian cross from rte 4 crossing rte 129 to continue up rte 110 is not functioning. I pressed the button much more than once and waited three light cycles, it never signaled for the pedestrian to walk safety. Note that the other pedestrian walk signs in that intersection did signal.

There is a large amount of trash, bottles, cans, etc. on the side of the road from 110 intersection to the Freeman tail crossing. It's filthy. If the town has no service to clean this, is there a community action that can be initiated from this?

At Best Western across the street from my house, they implemented new efficient parking lot lighting last December, but it is not focused downward and shines brightly on my house; specifically into my kitchen window. I spoke with them and they said they'd fix it, but that was three months ago.
