The Dept. of Traffic Signs and Markings has recently installed a stop sign in the WRONG PLACE where it is obscured. As you can see from the photo, a tree is obscuring the view of the stop sign as drivers approach from the South. When the leaves come out in the Spring, the stop sign will be totally obscured. It is located on the SE corner of Silver and Aliso SE. The tree in question is located on the property of 3900 Silver SE. The sign installers should have noticed this obvious problem. The remedy is to install the stop sign within 2 feet of Aliso curb. This may still require some minor pruning of the tree, but far less than removing half the tree to see the stop sign where it is presently located.

As the photo shows, prairie dogs have dug tunnels to the roots of young new trees just recently planted, destroying the roots, and this will kill the trees soon if the holes are not filled up. These trees are on the Eastern-most field at Bullhead Park, next to the fence of the AFB.

For cars coming from the South on Jefferson Pl SE and trying to look West up Kathryn for traffic, bushes are partially blocking the view. The owner of 1101 Jefferson had to get a special permit to build the big wall he has, but outside the wall in what is supposed to be clear space, he has planted bushes that now obstruct the view up Kathryn to the West. The photo shows how the driver's line of sight is blocked by the bush looking up Kathryn. This is a traffic hazard.

Vast areas of the Bullhead soccer fields are dried up and dying because they are not getting any water. Don't the sprinkler people check this weekly? Because someone has not checked it for at least a month. Middle of the fields near the airbase fence and new young trees. See photo.

This huge rut is between the two sections of the Bullhead dog park. It was made by the service truck and not reported. As shown in the photo, it fills up with water on sprinkler day. Dogs love it but their owners hate it. The rut needs to be fixed by putting in a yard of dirt, just like the rut at the East entrance to the dog park was fixed six months ago.

Near the picnic tables at Bullhead Park, which are next to the road, there are several places where plants have been established, like small trees. In one of these places there is a weed, a tree called the Chinese Elm, or Tingley's folly, which is the scourge of Albuquerque. If this bush/tree is allowed to grow, it will kill the tree that is planted there. In the photo it is the nearest plant to the camera. Please dig it out and remove it so the tree in the center of the plot can survive.

There has been a tent camping at Bullhead Park for the last few days. It is located near the airbase fence near the South goalpost on one of the soccer fields. Please send the midnight patrol to roust them out. See photo.

The recent winds have caused even more newly planted trees to lean drastically. Some of them (see photo) are in danger of being pulled out of the ground. The Parks Dept needs to get out there right away. These 3 trees are in the Eastern field close to the New Day youth center.

These are recently planted trees located near the Airbase fence. The tree on the right is slightly leaning, while the little tree in the center is leaning way over, much further than the leaning tower of Pizza. Please send a crew out to get them upright again before it gets worse.

See Photo. This big rut is at the inside gate separating 2 parts of the dog park. It was created by the service truck running over and through it every few days. It is now filled with water and is a breeding ground for mosquitos, which is a health issue for both dogs and humans. City Parks needs to fill this rut with dirt and pack it down so that is disappears. A similar rut at the East entrance to the dog park was taken care of nicely recently.

A month ago we reported that there was a break in the water line for sprinklers inside the Bullhead Dog Park, which was reported as issue 3301954. The break is in the Eastern section of the dog park. Supposedly this was fixed, but not really. There is still water coming up from the leak. Either the repair did not hold, or the workers simply filled the hole with dirt without repairing the line. See photo of how it appears today after the sprinkler cycle. A chair has been placed over the water hole so park users will not step into it and suffer physical harm, and also so that the service truck does not run over it again.

As the photo shows, a vandal has cut away the bark from two trees at U.S.S. Bullhead Park. The trees are located along the line next to the airbase fence at the end of the soccer fields. Is there a way to save these trees by protecting them so they don't die? Please contact the City Forester to help.

Here is a photo of the wonderful water fountain that the Parks Department installed in the Bullhead Dog Park a year or so ago. It is not working and has been shut off. Why? Let's get this water fountain working again so that hundreds of people in the park can use it every day. We would appreciate it.

Broken sprinkler head or water line at the Bullhead Dog Park - East section. This big hole has been perpetually flooded for about a month. The Parks service truck has driven over it at least once. Evidently the people who fix sprinklers do not check them regularly. Let's get someone out to fix this. See photo.
  • Washington Street And Central Ave Ne Albuquerque, New Mexico - Highland

    TRAFFIC DEPT.:
A very long backup on Northbound Washington trying to get through the Central Ave. intersection. Photo taken yesterday March 1st. What are all these traffic cones doing blocking the left turn lane? Some driver tried to turn left and couldn't do so because of the dozens of cars coming through on Southbound Washington. He held up the whole line of 30 cars behind him trying to get through the intersection. It took me 10 minutes and 3 light changes just to get to where I took the photo.

Why are the traffic cones blocking the left turn lane?
Why are there no signs saying whether left turns are permitted or not?

There is no reason to have these cones blocking the left turn lane, causing a massive traffic congestion. Please have them removed. Let people turn left on Central because this is one of the very few places anymore that one can do that. I wanted to turn left and didn't because it would have blocked the 30 cars behind me on Washington. Yes, this is yet another nightmare courtesy of the ART fiasco.

The photo shows an example of where some new young trees were planted at Bullhead Park -- right behind soccer goal posts. This summer there will be thousands of soccer balls that will sail over/through this goalpost, and hundreds of them will land in this tree, breaking off all its young branches and perhaps the top of its trunk. These trees behind goal posts should be moved to places where they will have a chance to grow into mature trees. Otherwise they will have no chance to live and be wasted.
