Standing water at 855 Cambridge Street. I noticed water was pumped out of this vacant lot on Sunday. This removed much, but not all, of the water. By Wednesday afternoon when I took this photo the standing water had returned to nearly the same level that it was prior to pumping. Other than a few flurries early in the week, there has been no precipitation since the pumping, suggesting the persistent water we are seeing is simply the level of the water table. Can the city require the property owner to install a continuous pump, or add enough gravel to the vacant lot to raise the elevation of the lot above the water table level?

Standing water at 855 Cambridge St. We had the worst mosquito season in over a decade in our neighborhood last year and I think the chronic standing water at this address last summer was partly to blame. Would love to see the issue resolved before mosquito season this year.

The chronic standing water at 851-855 Cambridge St. seems to be getting worse. Complaints were filed via this App this summer and fall by city council member Quinton Zondervan on Oct 13, issue ID 11292150, and an anonymous complaint on July 15, issue ID 10424407, yet it seems nothing has been done. We had the worst mosquito year in the neighborhood in over a decade and I think this vacant lot's standing water may be to blame. I'd like to see the issue resolved now so we don't have the same problem during next year's mosquito season.

More than a dozen young trees planted within the past year in front of, behind, and on the sides of the new King Open School at 850 Cambridge St. are dying because they have not been watered. None of the trees have water bags at their base. The grass around the trees is also dying because, unlike at the adjacent Donnelly Field, no sprinkler system has been installed. Can you please water the trees, add bags at their bases, and install a sprinkler system for the grass, or at least water this newly laid sod occasionally?

There is an active rat den under this Cambridge Housing Authority storage container. I've seen rats coming and going out of both ends in the past week. Cement and wood were previously put down around the base, presumably to keep rats out, but the cementing and boarding need to be redone. CHA uses poison to kill rats and I've found 3 dead rats within 100 feet on the sidewalk in the past 2 weeks. I also found a red tailed hawk unable to fly within 100 feet of this container. I got the hawk to Tufts Vet. Clinic and they confirmed severe rodenticide poisoning (from feeding on poisoned rats). It would be much more effective and much less dangerous to wildlife and pets if the den were effectively sealed off rather than continuing to poison a portion of the rats that venture out.

walk button on southeast corner of Willow St. and Cambridge St. intersection next to the King Open School and Cambridge St. Upper School no longer works; walk signal does not come after pressing this button like it used to. Other walk buttons at other corners of this intersection continue to work.
