  • 240 Nicoll St New Haven, Connecticut, 06511 - East Rock
A driver mysteriously chose to park in such a way as to block a driveway shared by two houses, when there was ample parking available NOT in front of driveway. CT lic 3AP FS7.
  • Church St & Wall St New Haven, CT, 06510, USA - Downtown
Walked to work 9 am today, noticed this car illegally parked.
Walking by again 3 pm, it’s still here… abandoned?
    Either way: should be ticketed/towed.
  • 246 Nicoll St New Haven, CT, 06511, USA - East Rock
This vehicle, which has vintage plates (like someone cared about this car once upon a time) but has seen shall we say better days, appears to have been abandoned on Nicoll. It was covered with a tarp for a long while. Storm blew the tarp away. Now what? Can this thing get towed, or the owner tracked down?
  • 68 Anderson St New Haven, CT, 06511, USA - East Rock
Hey, is anyone missing their bike? This one is hiding in bushes near our apartment. I assume it was stolen.... from someone.... was it from you?
  • 859 Orange St New Haven, CT, 06511, USA - East Rock
This lovey was lying on the sidewalk on Orange St this morning — I moved it to front stoop of nearest house. Hope owner comes back to get it soon!
  • One Stop Mart & Deli 831 Orange St, New Haven, CT, 06511, USA - East Rock
This vehicle’s been illegally parked for at least 24 hours. Saw a cop drive by 30 minutes ago — why no ticket? Visibility issues are real here —

I am not sure if this is the PRECISE location of the problem, because I was being driven down the street at night, but somewhere on Orange in the vicinity of this location -- somewhere in the Audubon/Grove stretch, I THINK, there's a big pothole. When I said to the person with me, "That's a hell of a pothole," she said, "It's a sinkhole, it's getting worse." My friend told me that the other week she was riding her bike down Orange and swerved to avoid it, but it was scary -- she remarked, "I was lucky there was no traffic and I didn't get hit by a car, and I'm lucky I didn't ride my bike into it and upend myself and break my neck." Excellent options, right?

Whatever you call it, pothole, sinkhole, it's in the road, and it's not good. Can the City go have a gander and try to fix it? Thanks!

I *think* this would count as trash and recycling -- not sure -- at any rate, a couple of filled leaf bags have not been picked up by DPW and residents would appreciate it if they were. Thanks!
  • 865 Orange St New Haven, Connecticut - East Rock
On the curb strip, sort of between 865 and 869 Orange Street, someone has left a large mattress. Which is now presumably a large, soggy mattress, since it's been raining all day. Can the city come get this thing before it becomes a festering mess, and isn't merely an ugly nuisance?
  • 97 Grove Street New Haven, Connecticut - Downtown
This morning around 11 I found a silver ring on the sidewalk kind of near Willoughby's. Is it yours? Describe the ring and prove it's yours and I'll get it back to you.

There's been a toilet at the corner of Canner and Orange Streets for over a week now. I suspect it was removed from the house on the corner during a renovation but the truth is I don't know. What I do know is that no local resident seems willing to claim it and remove it from its current spot on the corner, and anyone walking around here finds it revolting. Can Public Works remove this thing? Thank you.... not taking a photo because I can't bear it.
  • 513-515 Whitney Avenue New Haven, Connecticut - East Rock
The monsoon that hit us this afternoon has resulted in an unusually large lake even for the usual mess at Whitney & Canner, which always has drainage problems. Can someone from DPW please get at this problem? It puts innumerable people at risk when crossing the street here (which happens a LOT -- this is a very heavily foot-trafficked place, with the schools nearby and bus stops and so on) -- it basically renders the SW corner of Whitney & Canner inaccessible -- and is surely also difficult for drivers as well.
  • 41 Cold Spring Street New Haven, Connecticut - East Rock
I feel terrible about this but somehow I knew it would happen: the city installed a nice new water fountain and it's gotten clogged with I have no idea what and it's not draining. My daughter noticed it this morning and asked if I could fix it, since I unclogged our slow-draining bathroom sink this week. But I can't fix the water fountain. Can someone go to check out the fountain near the playground? It's not gross, yet, just kind of icky, but the gross factor will go up fast in hot weather.
"This is why we can't have nice things."
  • 191 Bishop St New Haven, Connecticut - Bishop-Hine

Walking up Bishop Street today, found a key on the sidewalk near 191 Bishop Street. Scion. Didn't see one parked in the immediate vicinity, but it must belong to someone. Let me know if I can return it to you.

I don't know why I'm the one finding car keys this week -- two in one week seems rather a lot, if you ask me. And I don't even drive, so these keys are TOTALLY USELESS to me...

  • 141 Canner Street New Haven, Connecticut - East Rock
Key to Toyota found in front of 141 Canner Street. The kind I hear is expensive to replace. Get in touch if it's yours.
  • 41 Cold Spring Street New Haven, Connecticut - East Rock
My daughter found someone's key at the playground. It has a charm and some other unique identifiers. Is it yours? Post here and I will be happy to arrange to get the key back to you
  • 1-41 Cold Spring Street New Haven, Connecticut - East Rock
Strange, because I reported an issue like this a couple blocks away recently, but -- one of the red lights at Orange/Cold Spring is not lighting. There are two sets of lights that face Cold Spring, and the red light on the right isn't lighting. Green and yellow work, but not red. Again, City of New Haven, can this be remedied?
  • 794 Orange Street New Haven, Connecticut - East Rock
Traffic light at NW corner of Willow and Orange has a serious problem, which is that while the green and yellow lights work, the red does not. So people driving westward on Willow aren't driving very safely. Will phone NHPD non-emergency; hope that in the meantime there are no accidents.
  • 789-793 Orange Street New Haven, Connecticut - East Rock
The button at the NE corner of the intersection of Willow/Orange isn't working, hasn't for weeks, and as such, one can be left WAITING AND WAITING AND WAITING for a safe chance to cross the street. Can the city get this fixed please?
  • 511 Whitney Avenue New Haven, CT - East Rock
I have no idea who's in charge of maintenance for this lovely multi-family house. However, they've seriously fallen down on the job and somehow only today have I gotten angry about it. Walking up Canner to Whitney, I was forced to walk in the street -- alongside a mountain of snow, which meant that cars turning from Whitney to Canner coming from downtown would be guaranteed to not see me -- and then had to continue in the street as I headed south on Whitney. A path has been carved into the snow over the last week, but that path is now horrible ice. It's incredibly unsafe. Had the owner of the building made sure that the sidewalks were shoveled in the first place, it would not be the disaster it is now. I am loath to complain about a landlord, and I don't want to sound ungrateful, but really, I had to take serious chances today and it was not fun.
