  • Midland Avenue Kearny, New Jersey - Kearny

Back, I believe in May, there were complaints on this board with regards to potholes through out Town. I noticed that several people complained about the state of Beech Street and Midland Avenue. The response from Town officials was "It's on the list for repairs." "Streets will be repaved this summer." We are now a the end of the summer and Midland Avenue is still a wreck. Just a few weeks ago, Beech Street was finally taken care of. All of the potholes around Town that were "repaired" are beginning to deteriorate again. Why has Midland Avenue not been repaved?

All summer long the Town spent days fixing pipes, tearing up the street and patching it up. This is completely unacceptable. Before we know it, winter will be upon us with snow and once again, one more year, and the streets still look the way they do.

I just read another resident's complaint about the Gunnel Oval. The Oval has been this way for as long as I can remember. What is Kearny doing? Vet's Field is being re-done despite the fact that it's not needed. The High School has been under construction since my oldest son started high school. He is now 23. What is the holdup? I find it incredible that the HS is in this condition. Kids having to attend school everyday in this condition is abominable, not to mention what it may be doing to their health. I cannot imagine that they can concentrate in these conditions and having to attend classes in trailers. The Board of Ed's new building on Midland Avenue and Elm Street was completed in under a year. Am I the only that sees something wrong with this?

The Town needs to address these issues and not just pass them around from department to department. Someone needs to be held accountable for this.

SNOW REMOVAL - when will the Town remove all this snow. There are mountains of snow on Columbia Avenue and other surrounding streets and parking is extremely difficult to find. Parking on Elm is almost non-existant. Kearny OEM has been calling residents since Wednesday evening telling residents that there is no parking on snow routes, which includes Elm Street, for snow removal, but no snow has been removed. Several surrounding towns have been removing snow, literally picking it up AND removing it! WHY NOT KEARNY! THIS IS NOT RIGHT!!!
