I was speaking with Ron Coen from the city and he had mentioned that they were going to do something similar to what was done on Edward St once the sewer separation is done. The sewer project alone will deter cut throughs - and that is slated to happen in the fall.
That's interesting. I checked in with a couple other neighbors, including the ones across the street, They said other than the 2 bangs yesterday they have never heard anything else except for last 4th of July.
Dave the school teacher, Mike the plumber, his wife Mary Lynn and their dog, and Sean with his dog all live there. You must be talking about Mike the plumber.
I know everyone who lives here. Who is throwing fireworks? I've been sitting on my front porch all evening and didn't hear any fireworks. And I am only a few houses away...
Ah! That used to be a problem a few years ago When Roland Lemar was still alder. For a long time now one has said this was an issue. How long has it been going on? And Doug, what is the best course of action?
It sounds to me that there needs to be a meeting set up with the PW Director. I am going to invite him to the next SoHu block watch meeting so he can hear our concerns. That's July 16th, at 7:00 pm in the Carriage house at 48 Pearl st for anyone who might want to attend.
Public works, what say you to this i the ordinance:
"In all other areas of the city no commercial waste collector shall engage in the business operations licensed by this article except between the hours of 6:00 a.m. through 10:00 p.m. (Ord. No. 1557, 4-16-07)
I'm planning to try getting them to do so. Starting with Pearl and Pleasant. I am also going to suggest one at Clark and Orange- on any given day there are 5 or more bikes locked to the fence there. And the sign posts.
And thank you FairHavenRes for the link!
Yes, I too have been woken as early and 5, and yes I get it twice, 5:30 (sometimes 5:00) followed by 6:30. These folks used to come between 7:30 and 8. Why has this changed? PLEASE Doug Arndt! Please change to a reasonable hour!
I was on the phone with the Police on Saturday as someone was stealing a bike by pulling the sign out of the ground. This happened on Bradley St near Orange. They didn't even care that I was describing them to the police. It took them 30 seconds to steal it.
Hi Bob, I was just talking with Susan about 67-69 Pearl as a good place for a bike rack. I will create a post and see if DOT will add it to the list.
Do we need landlord permission? Or can I just suggest it?
I wouldn't mind seeing a couple on Pearl St too! How expensive are they?
I don't think that people who are dumping their TVs at the curb would take the initiative to bring them to the dump. But its worth sending that out to the SoHu email list.
Why wasn't public works notified of this issue? And How do I notify them?
Hi Jen - Many people on Pearl st have painted their numbers on the cans. It helps tremendously in locating them. Mine also have ended up across the street or down the street. Call PW:(203) 946-7700 and tell them you have NO trash containers. They are pretty good about delivering new ones quickly.
Its moving time. Here we go again!
bad is supposed to be snap. snap traps.
What do you mean no rat issue? Would you like me to send you the pictures of the ones I caught in the bap traps?
