    Good evening and thank you for taking the time reading this.

    Over the 10 years I have lived in Newnan, the excessive speeding that occurs on Atkinson Street, as well as, Elm Street needs to be addressed before someone gets hurt or killed. We have been extremely lucky so far, but there have been some close calls in the past several weeks and would love to be as proactive on this as possible.

    My last request was made back in approximately March 2021 with the solution that the city and city managers’ office came up with was going to be an installation of a speed sign displaying drivers’ speed as they past the sign, however, the sign did not record any particular data except high speeds during random times.

    The pole was installed again for the second time; however, the tornado hit that evening and the city had other issues to address.

    This time it is every type of vehicle traffic that is excessively speeding, no enforcement from NPD, however, the non-emergency line has been contacted on numerous occasions.

    Again, I ask the city of Newnan to place a camera, police officer, speed bump - really anything to slow traffic down. This is to prevent what could happen, which we do not want to happen.

    This is the third time this has happened to my backyard - water rushing down Parks has flooded my basement and backyard wiping out all of my shrubbery. I have approached the city before and was told it wasn’t their probable but there is a storm water creek that runs behind my property that is maintained by the city and Newnan Utilities and has failed again.

    This issue has been continuing since my family and I moved here. There are drivers who are speeding down Atkinson Street. I was getting out of my car just NOW (13 October 2015) and was almost hit by a car doing at least 65. When will the city get either a speed bump installed or sit on the street and watch this? This is a known issue. I have reported this multiple times. We got a digital speed sign - which of course - everyone drives by it faster than the 25 mph limit that is posted. I along with our neighbors have young children who play in the yards... This is preemptive as we know the issue - fix it now - instead AFTER someone or child gets hit. If this needs to go to the city council, mayor, city attorney, please let me know so I may contact them.

    Good evening. Due to the flash floods that occurred this evening (Sept. 7, 2014) I now have a backyard that is underwater as well as a basement full of water due to the creek that runs long my property line that belongs to the city as well as Newnan Utilities. Please see videos uploaded with this issue. The first is with the creek bed not being able to handle the water coming from Jackson Street, as well as our neighbors house (17 Atkinson St.) since the storm water from Parks Ave. comes down their driveway into our backyard thereby flooding the creekbed, raising the water into my backyard. We are not classified as a Flood Plain.

    I am asking the city as well as Newnan Utilities (who have been here once before just over a year ago who tried to fix this SAME issue) to contain this water with their a new drainage system being built -AND- dig the creekbed deeper to allow flash floods like tonights' to run without any issues.

    The gentleman that came over here from Newnan Utilities will be contacted tomorrow but wanted to send this out ASAP.

    Hello. I wrote in about 30 days ago asking for the city of Newnan to check on the speed travelers are driving north on Atkinson St. I was informed by the representative from the city that sensors were installed to check on the speed of drivers and appropriate actions would be taken (I requested a speed bump to slow travelers down). What is the status of these "speed sensors".

    Also, in my initial request I was informed that the speed limit signs were going to be upgraded to a more reflective type of sign - was this complete?

    If possible, would you please reply back to this message so my neighbors can see this progress? Thank you so much!
