  • W Millbrook Rd Raleigh, North Carolina - Raleigh Council District A
Greenway sign damaged on west side of top of Shelly Lake Dam.
  • W Millbrook Road Raleigh, North Carolina - Raleigh Council District A
The greenway tunnel under W Millbrook Rd has graffiti on it.
  • 4201-4299 Lassiter Mill Road Raleigh, North Carolina - Six Forks Corridor

I have witnessed many occasions where cars at the Pamlico stop sign turn left onto Lassiter Mill Road but do not see the red light at the pedestrian crosswalk immediately to the east of the intersection. This has made for some dangerous situations as pedestrians are in the crosswalk at the time.

For the Six Forks Corridor Study, can this stop light and crosswalk be moved right at Pamlico? The signal is too difficult to see and react to if a driver is not accustomed to this unusual situation.

  • 4708 Rampart Street Raleigh, NC 27609, USA - Six Forks
A no parking sign has fallen to the ground on Rampart St next to Brooks Elementary.
  • 1408 Kimberly Drive Raleigh, NC 27609, USA - Six Forks
The storm drain on the north side of Kimberly Dr. between Raintree Ct. and North Hills Dr. is clogged and spilling runoff back onto the road.
  • 5906 Six Forks Road Raleigh, NC 27609, USA - Six Forks Corridor
There are two stop lights on Sandy Forks when facing Six Forks. The red light on the right one is burned out. The red light on the left one is missing much of its light.
  • 4300 Crabtree Valley Avenue Raleigh, North Carolina - Glenwood
Greenway trail traffic on the House Creek Greenway Trail must cross Crabtree Valley Ave to get to the Crabtree Creek Trail. This crossing is ill defined, and often the traffic turning onto Crabtree Valley Ave from Blue Ridge Rd is moving quickly, leading to unsafe conditions. Ideally a bridge or other safer crossing could be added to this site.
  • 2100 Raleigh Boulevard Raleigh, North Carolina - Raleigh Council District C
The greenway trail traffic at Raleigh Boulevard is forced onto a small sidewalk across the Crabtree Creek bridge just wide enough for two people to squeeze past each other. Traffic moves along at 45-50 mph along here, leading to unsafe crossing conditions. It would be better to redesign this intersection like the Wake Forest Rd, Atlantic Ave, or Capital Boulveard crossings with the trail going under the bridge and on/off ramps.
  • 4474-4488 Six Forks Road Raleigh, North Carolina - Six Forks Corridor
Drivers sometimes use the right turn lane from Six Forks Rd to East Rowan Street to pass cars in through-traffic lane. They then cut over to the through lanes just before or in the intersection.
  • 4208 Six Forks Road Raleigh, North Carolina - Six Forks Corridor
Drivers unfamiliar with the area get into the left turn lane for the Beltline thinking it will take them into the shopping center. When they realize their mistake, they have to merge right into through traffic. Perhaps better signage through here would reduce this confusion.
  • 100 Dartmouth Road Raleigh, North Carolina - Six Forks Corridor
North Hills and North Hills East could be connected via a pedestrian bridge over Six Forks Road at Dartmouth.
  • 4812 Six Forks Road Raleigh, North Carolina - Six Forks Corridor
Although it's not possible in many cases (and may not be possible at all with private property), there may be some opportunities to close extraneous driveways into properties. Many of these second or third driveways into private properties were made in the 1960s when Six Forks was a slower paced two lane road, and aren't as suited to a 4 lane thoroughfare. Closing some of these would better protect pedestrian and bike traffic and keep through traffic flowing.
  • 5306-5310 Six Forks Road Raleigh, North Carolina - Six Forks Corridor
It may be worth looking into widening the sidewalks, perhaps to accommodate a separate bike lane or mixed use trails such as what exists in the greenway trail corridors.
  • 5838 Six Forks Road Raleigh, North Carolina - Six Forks Corridor
The lighting of pedestrian corridors is primarily through street lights along Six Forks. This makes it difficult to see the sidewalk and other pedestrians at night.
  • 401-451 Cranbrook Road Raleigh, North Carolina - Six Forks Corridor
The Cranbrook Road/Six Forks Road intersection is difficult to see for southbound traffic on Six Forks Road. The street sign is hidden behind a school speed limit sign and telephone pole. Traffic turning right onto Cranbrook sometimes brake quickly to make the turn.
  • 400-454 Shelley Road Raleigh, North Carolina - Six Forks Corridor
Shelley Road intersects Six Forks Road at a sharp angle. That makes it difficult for southbound traffic on Six Forks Road turn right onto Shelley Road.
  • 4601 Six Forks Road Raleigh, North Carolina - Six Forks Corridor
Sometimes drivers wanting to turn left into the Landmark Center inadvertently back up drivers wanting to turn left onto Northbrook. This causes a situation where Northbrook-bound drivers pull back into the through-lane traffic to get around the stopped vehicle.
  • 4465 Six Forks Road Raleigh, North Carolina - Six Forks Corridor
Burying the power lines along Six Forks Rd would not only significantly spruce up the corridor; it would also protect the surrounding areas from power outages from storm damage. The power lines primarily start at Rowan and continue north.
  • 123-199 Northbrook Drive Raleigh, North Carolina - Six Forks Corridor
Left turn traffic from westbound Northbrook Drive to southbound Six Forks Rd does not have a turn signal. Drivers will sometimes turn left even when eastbound traffic from Northbrook is going straight or turning right onto southbound Six Forks Rd.
