Ninth St Berkeley CA 94710, United States - Berkeley

Ninth Street between Heinz and the start of the greenway to the south - prior to the repaving here there were two bike lane stencils in each direction at both the start and end of the block, and the dashed green bikeway markings southbound had dashed white lines on the sides of each green box

these markings were not replaced after the paving so I reported them on SeeClickFix as a punch list item request - the report was marked as completed but only a single bike lane stencil was added in the southbound direction at the start of the block

please add back the other three bike lane stencils, two northbound and one more southbound, and add back the white edge lines for the dashed green bikeway markings

There are many, many problems with the new pump, tool stand, and bike racks on the west side of Shellmound just south of the freeway ramp.

    1) All of the tools are already cut from the stand and missing.
    2) The pump looks like it has been messed with though still seems to be operational, though difficult to use.
    3) The bolts holding the pump to the concrete are not secure and can be removed easily - Need to be replaced w secure mounting bolts and/or epoxied.
    4) The pump itself is poor quality to begin with, not easily useable by people short in stature and/or without substantial arm strength.
    5) The bike racks bolts are also not secure and can be removed easily.
    6) The racks themselves are a bad design, as they are too wide and a typical mini U-lock won't fit around the rack and a bike frame/wheel.

Given the poor quality of the pump, tool stand, and racks I recommend that these be removed instead of trying to fix them. I highly discourage the city from allowing these products to be installed anywhere else around town, and recommend that the city consult with the bike coalition staff ahead of any future bike parking or tool stand/pump installation approvals.

The bike racks at this location could potentially be replaced with a better style, but I recommend against installing a pump and tool stand here at all, as it is a desolate spot by the freeway ramp and will be regularly vandalized and unusable.

  • 920 Folger Ave Emeryville CA 94710, United States - Emeryville

The parking lot construction west of the greenway between Folger and 67th St has resulted in all of the seating and planters which were previously in the lot being placed on and blocking the jogging path along the greenway.

If the parking lot is no longer providing public access and the seating isn't being put back there, please contact the owner to find a new spot for it that isn't blocking part of the path.
