  • 500 - 700 Hamilton Avenue Lansing, MI - Lansing

I've requested that the city resurface the 500, 600, and 700 blocks of Hamilton Avenue every year for the past five years. My grandparents have lived on this street for over 20 years, and say it has never been resurfaced. Every year, the city patches the largest holes in the road. Every year it gets progressively worse. I had high hopes that action would be taken last year when Councilwoman Wood got involved and the city actually came out to look at the road condition, but little else happened.

There are large potholes in this stretch of road and there are a number of areas where there is only dirt where the pavement used to be. It is incredibly unsafe for the motorcyclists that ride in this area and for the children that ride their bikes down the hill.

Attached is a map with indicators showing where the road issues are. Photos of all the significant road issues can be found at http://bit.ly/XNVx5z

  • 3205 S Cedar Street Lansing, MI - Lansing
There is a ton of garbage and broken furniture accumulating around this business, which appears to be a year-round "yard sale" and fireworks store. The amount has been growing over the past few months. For the longest time they were using a dirty mattress to block the entrance to the building at night. There is also a charcoal grill near the building, which seems like it should be some kind of fire code violation for a business that sells fireworks...
  • 3205 S Cedar Lansing, MI - Lansing

For the past few days (if not longer), a large amount of dirt has covered the sidewalk in front of the Fireworks business at 3205 S Cedar Street. This was not present prior to the construction at this location. Photo attached.

There is also a lot of litter on this property including broken glass, used fireworks containers, and cigarette butts. There are also remnant building materials piled in the rear of the property.

  • 500-700 Hamilton Ave Lansing, MI - Lansing
From 500-700 Hamilton, there are more than 15 areas of road that are more than 10 sq ft of dirt and gravel, where the road has deteriorated. Every year, the city comes by and patches the road, which wears away within months. The deterioration on the hill is dangerous to motorcyclists, who have to ride in the center of the road, and have drivers coming over the hill who can't see them. The patches that the city has done previously make the road uneven and rough to drive on. The attached photo is one of the many areas on this road that need attention. A permanent fix is needed.

Timing on lights at kazoo and washington seem misconfigured. Traffic was held up in three directions while the west light went from red to green three times in a matter of minutes. Crosswalk light didn't change. Another pedestrian notes it does this frequently and then after a few minutes it returns to normal. This was around 515pm.
