  • 55 Kimberly Ave New Haven, Connecticut - City Point
The large, old tree in the center of Kimberly Square is now completely dead. This is going to be a potential hazard if left into winter.
  • 98 2nd St New Haven, Connecticut 06519 - City Point
2 mattresses have been dumped on the tree-strip, on the rear-most section of the Second Street dead-end. Condoms & drug paraphernalia suggest that these are being used for prostitution. This is right behind Betsy Ross school, so please prioritize removal of these mattresses.

Thanks to drivers of sweepers 115 & A7 for great job cleaning odd-number side of Second Street Dead End. Driver of 115 even got out of cab to remove (rather than just go around) oversize item someone dropped in middle of street!
  • 57 Second St. New Haven, Connecticut 06519 - City Point
Tree directly in front of 57 Second St AND tree immediately across from this are both dead. Please remove. So there are a total of FOUR dead (ornamental plum) trees on this single block of Second St (between Hallock AVE and Howard Ave.). These were planted in early 1980s and reached the end of 'average' life span for this particular variety.

  • 376 Greenwich Ave New Haven, Connecticut 06519 - City Point
I received the robo-call last night, warning about street sweeping + tag & towing today, May 23. However, no paper signs were placed on Second Street or Greenwich Ave (portion near Second Street). I haven't checked elsewhere, but you'll need a large parking lot for all the cars that are going to be towed...
  • 90 2nd St New Haven, Connecticut 06519 - City Point
Driver of street sweeper No. 131 just did a great job cleaning 6 months of debris from the Second Street dead-end (behind Betsy Ross school). (of course, still need to do other side tomorrow.) Thanks, Public Works!
  • 343 Greenwich Ave New Haven Connecticut 06519 - City Point
It's Friday morning Dec 22 @ 9:45 AM. Two full trash toters still are sitting in front of 343 Greenwich Ave. I checked them out; they don't appear to have anything unusual inside: just ordinary-looking household trash. Yesterday, person answering phone at Public Works said an inspector would be sent to check it out. I don't see a "warning sticker" on the toters indicating that "prohibited items" are inside. So why is this garbage still here??! Trash pick-up will be delayed one day next week, due to Christmas holiday. Does this mean that 2-weeks+1-day of garbage is going to be sitting in front of 343 Greenwich--because crew "overlooked" it this past Wednesday?! **UNACCEPTABLE**. This is in Ward 6, Alder is Dolores Colon Ward6@newhavenct.gov 203-507-7679
  • 341 Greenwich Ave New Haven Connecticut 06519 - City Point
This now seems to be a weekly problem. HOWEVER I just called Public Works (203) 946-7700 . They said Wednesday's pickup was not completed, so they are returning today/Thursday Dec 21. ALSO they said that if crew sees items not permitted in trash toter, they will skip it, because state of CT fines city $5,000 per incident of "not permitted" items being picked up. SO if you're in the Hill South route and your trash was missed, wait until end of today/Thursday before calling Public Works. (If you have "forbidden" items in trash, you'll get a warning letter. And, if not removed, a fine.)
  • 350 Greenwich Ave. New Haven, Connecticut 06519 - City Point
My trash on Second St & on Greenwich, between 2nd & 3rd, was picked up 2 hours ago--BUT trash on Greenwich Ave between 2nd & 3rd St still has not been picked up. [This is 3rd week in a row that this block has been missed.]
  • 350 Greenwich Ave New Haven, Connecticut 06519 - City Point
My trash on Second St. was picked up today/Wednesday at c. 6 AM per usual, but I noticed at 10 AM they still haven't done a portion of Greenwich Ave that I can see (between 2nd & 3rd). 'Usually' they do that block just before or after mine. Perhaps this is not the usual crew, so they are following a different pattern? I called Public Works & she said she'd contact supervisor, but I wanted to post it here also, since a neighbor on that block was totally missed last week: I wanted to make sure we don't have a repeat of that.

**ALSO NOTE: This is a single-family dwelling—yet they have 3 garbage toters.
    >>Has it been illegally sub-divided into multiple apartments?? (Last building permit pulled was to replace the porch deck. Yet I was inside that building not so long ago—and it was a complete shambles inside.)

Collecting fines due for such violations is great way to keep our property taxes down on houses & cars! >>AND a way to make absentee landlords stay on top of their properties.
