The heavily traveled short section of Ferry Street crossing the railroad tracks between Middletown Avenue and State Street is ALL big potholes and bumps, and traffic is slowed down as vehicles bounce slowly over the bumps. It has been like this for years and steadily getting worse.

THREE street lamps on Whitney Avenue between Edwards and Linden Streets have been out for several months. I reported three of them in November but nothing happened and they are still out.
  • Whitney-Edwards Intersection New Haven, Connecticut - Prospect Hill
The button for the pedestrian crossing signal on the southwest corner of Whitney and Edwards streets frequently doesn't work, even if it beeps and the red light flashes when you push it. (Someone just passing said that it never works.) Pedestrian crossing signals are useful only if they ALWAYS work and if they don't keep you waiting too long. Otherwise people just ignore them. This crossing signal keeps you waiting for a very long time, and if after that long wait it still doesn't work, nobody is going to wait to see if it will work the next time.

Almost a day after the snowstorm ended, Whitney Avenue, the main North-South street in the city, has STILL not been cleared and it is still covered with several inches of snow and ice and slush. Why aren't there plows out there NOW (at 2:30 PM) clearing the street? Who is responsible for supervising snow clearance in the winter? They seem to be either absent or incompetent.

Snow clearance in New Haven is always very poor in the winter, but this might be even poorer than usual. Every winter when you drive down Whitney Avenue from Hamden after a snowstorm, the streets have been nicely cleared in Hamden, but they are still covered with snow as soon as you cross the in New Haven line. The surrounding towns always do a much better job of snow clearance than New Haven. Why?
