Dangerous issue. Behind US Post Office across from Hannah Park. 10 minute fix.
  • Leelanau Trail Traverse City, MI 49684, USA - Leelanau County
storm caused several inches of sand over trail
  • 2564 2598 Division St Traverse City, MI 49684, USA - Grand Traverse County
Another in a series of troublesome curb cuts designed (and mandated) for pedestrian access that leave pedestrians stranded. This one is particularly problematic as it is at the southern terminus of the "Mall Trail." There's a nice crossing signal, and even a push-button. The problem comes when you get to the south side of South Airport Road, you're stuck on that corner with nowhere to go but to cross division, which leaves you with the same quandary. No sidewalks connect to these islands. Getting to businesses in any direction from this corner is difficult and dangerous.
  • 101-501 Rivers Edge Dr Traverse City, MI 49684, USA - Traverse City
Where 8th Street meets Lake, there are curb cuts on both sides of 8th street, but they don't align. There are also no designated crosswalks in this busy area. Crossing here is dangerous.
  • 201 299 Lake Ave Traverse City, MI 49684, USA - Traverse City

Vehicles heading westbound on 8th street, then turning onto Lake St. take this turn at high rates of speed almost always crossing the double yellow line into the oncoming lane. (See image - this car is more than 50% into the oncoming lane.)

By my count, just sitting at the cafe', approx. 80% of vehicles do not stay in their lane heading westbound. This is a hazard for other vehicles (heading eastbound) and for bicycles and pedestrians especially.

Some type of calming solution needs to be employed to slow cars as they approach the turn, or direct the cars into the proper lane. A good place for the small triangle islands, like the ones on Boardman and State?

  • 344-362 E 8th St Traverse City, MI 49684, USA - Traverse City
There is often graffiti under the 8th Street crossing of the Boardman River. Graffiti seems to be a growing plague here in TVC.
