street & sidewalks littered ArchivedChamberlain Street Raleigh, NC - Wade
My husband and I were walking to go to dinner on Hillsborough St last night from Brooks Ave. There is litter and trash on most of the streets around this area, especially at this time of year when the students return. But Chamberlain St is a real mess. It is completely trashed and the once well maintained apartments are a mess. We cannot understand why the city streets, especially around a university would be so trashed & littered. When friends and family come to town we are embarrassed to have them walk the streets around our home. Since finding this site I have complained about two other issues and both were handled very well, thank you. Instead of just complaining I would like to volunteer to do something about our terrible littering problem around the university in general. We try hard to point out to the students and renters around our home that littering is unacceptable. This is a huge problem and we are stunned that such intelligent and affluent young adults would have such little respect for the environment. I would very much like to become involved to help prevent the littering issue along with helping to get it cleaned up.
furniture in backyard Archived300 Brooks Ave Raleigh, NC - Wade
There has been a large pile of old furniture and garbage in the backyard of 300 Brooks Ave for several weeks. I do realize that we live in a rental area and try to be patient while the students are moving in and out but this house has continued to deteriorate over the past couple of years. After every renter the backyard fills up with old furniture but this time it has not been cleaned up for several weeks. Also, the plants near the sidewalk on Everette are almost completely overgrown making it very difficult to walk on the sidewalk by the side of this home. I really appreciate being able to report items as my husband and I love living in the city. We understand living near NC State would bring it's challenges but we deal with most very patiently. My husband cleans the litter on Brooks Ave daily and helps some of the neighbors with trimming and lawn care. We try hard to keep our neighborhood well kept and really apprediate the diversity.
litter in yards and driveways Archived301 Brooks Ave Raleigh, NC - Wade
Each Wednesday and Sunday the N&O delivers the midtown news on Brooks Ave. This newspaper is not subscribed by homeowners. The papers, delivered in plastic bags lay in the driveways and yards of several homes for days, sometimes weeks. This is a rental area and we all ready battle a lot of litter to begin with much less having the local newspaper deliver it.
I have requested that the N&O stop delivering these papers but to no avail.
Please address this problem.
