    This is a ROAD MANHOLE COVER NOISE complaint but there is no category like this so Cleaning Inspection was the closest match I could find. Vehicles rolling over this manhole cover cause a loud double-clanking sound with every passing vehicle. This is a reoccurrence that also happened in 2018. It was reported this cover is the responsibility of the Water Dept. I have also submitted a 311 Request: SR20-04216822 regarding this noise issue.

    This issue was resolved initially in 2012 as described in archived issue ID: 108703 by replacement of this entire manhole. However the noise has returned as annoying as before with most passing vehicle's rollover.

    PLEASE ADD YOUR VOTE and CALL 311 to support having this investigated and fixed!

    UPDATE: Called 311 on 8-11-2018 to check on last issued SR # but agent said issue was closed because it was reported as a sewer collapse (not noise issue as requested) and no collapse was found. Asked to open new SR and address as a noise issue to the Water Dept that should be responsible for this manhole cover. The new SR created by the agent is SR-18-02362886. This is the third SR to be assigned this issue,

    Clanking noise from a grated sewer cover since the spring or 2011. The round cover is located in the SW corner of the intersection of Irving Park Road and N. Pine Grove Ave (see photo). The noise is caused every time an east-bound vehicle rolls over this sewer cover, causing a clanking sound that I can clearly hear from my east-side unit at Lake Park Plaza. 311 was called to report to the Chicago Dept. of Water but no response to date.

    NOTE: Though some "adjustment" to the cover was done late summer 2011, the noise level returned within a month of this "repair." Therefore, issue remains the same.
