The overpass from MacArthur as it turns into Lake Park, traveling over 580 to Lakeshore, has an ugly little hazard where the black top of MacArthur meets the concrete of the overpass. It is a one to two inch tall concrete 'curb' that hammers every car that comes across the overpass.
There are literally hundreds, perhaps thousands, of cars and buses per day that use this roadway, and the only way to avoid the jarring hammering of your axles is to slow to between 2 and 4 mph and creep over this hurdle.
There is a similar situation on the uphill/reverse direction of this, but it is not quite as acute.
Several years ago there was a very modest bandaid applied to this situation, but, it really needs to be addressed much more completely. We have seen drivers go into the oncoming lane in an effort to avoid the worst of this little concrete curb.
Please solve this small, but dangerous, situation. Patch our overpass.

A stop sign in both directions, on MacArthur Blvd, next to the existing bus stops at Alma Ave.
The stops will slow the increasingly fast pace of the cars in the long uninterrupted stretches of MacArthur from both directions, past the school, the pool, two churches, and dozens of residential properties.
The cars GAIN speed, due to the wide open nature of the road, in both directions. The drivers do not even notice they are "opening it up", after climbing hills from each direction. Some drivers do know how fast they go, as this is a cute little way to avoid a portion of 580, and they hit 45-50mph, through our neighborhood and past the school and bus stops.
We have been homeowners here 27 years and this problem truly needs to be addressed. A solution is SO simple and inexpensive. MacArthur at Alma is really a scary intersection for any pedestrian because cars are coming hard from each direction. Most drivers are real good about stopping for pedestrians, but many are not. Why not slow them all down. The responsible ones won't mind at all and the buses are already fairly often stopping there. Please help make our neighborhood safer.
We have a petition signed by neighbors who agree with the need for two additional stop signs at this intersection.
Thank you for your time and interest.
  • 669 Alma Ave Oakland, California - Cleveland Heights
This service request just was reported as closed, although the mattress is still there. I think the confusion may be that I reported it originally as 676 Alma, but descibed the location as across the street from that address. Now I am reporting as 669 Alma - the correct side of the street. Please pick up this mattress which has been in the same location for several weeks now.

A mattress has been dumped for several weeks on the sidewalk on Alma Ave (across from 676 Alma). Please pick it up. Thanks.

Very much appreciate there is a trashcan in front of this home, but the trash can has been overflowing for many days and needs to be emptied. The trash can has some beautiful mosaic tile work on some sides, but one side wasn't put into place, so needs a little work. This trashcan, as well as the one on the opposite side of MacArthur Blvd, often are overflowing. We really appreciate the cans being in these spots, but if they are not emptied more often, just create unsightly dumping.

    Thanks,
    Rachel

  • Capell St & Mckinley Ave Oakland, California - Cleveland Heights
Water is backed up because the drain on the NW corner of Capell St & McKinley Ave (corner closest to St Vartan Church), is completely blocked and has a pool of water extending into the street. This needs equipment to go underground to unplug - neighbors alone cannot keep this drain cleared.
  • 2340 Lakeshort Ave Oakland, California - Cleveland Heights

I previously reported this 9/12/2016, Service Request 681410. On 9/26/2016 I received notification this request was closed. Today, 10/1/2016, I checked, and water is still flowing from this address, 2340 Lakeshore, into the street. I don't understand why this issue was closed since it hasn't been fixed, and I haven't received any notification that it has been referred to another agency.

I'm including photo I took today of the water flowing. This has been going on for at least several weeks.

Between 655 and 687 MacArthur Blvd (vacant lots), there's a stream of garbage strewn from the sidewalk into the street - about 2 cubic yards. It's been there for at least a couple of days.
  • 850-858 Macarthur Boulevard Oakland, California - Cleveland Heights
The stretch of MacArthur Blvd between Capell St and Spruce St could use a trash can since there is often trash on the ground in that area, and there are no trash cans nearby. Attached is a picture of two bags we filled with trash after walking through this area on Fri, May 13, 2016.
  • Macarthur Blvd & Alma Ave Oakland, California - Cleveland Heights
MacArthur Blvd @ Alma Ave needs a full 3-way STOP. Speeds on MacArthur Blvd are greatly increasing. This is a SCHOOL ZONE, and, AC Transit has a bus stop in both directions on MacArthur, at this intersection. The crosswalk at this intersection, on MacArthur, is hazardous. There is no need, for drivers to surpass 50 mph, through this intersection, but, that is occurring. In both directions, drivers crest and hit a long straight away. They do not back off on the gas, and they fly through here. A STOP at this particular intersection will not interfere with AC Transit, but, it will slow down cars flying through this residential neighborhood.
  • 599 El Embarcadero Oakland, California - Adams Point
The grassy area and some sidewalk/brick area near Lakeshore Ave is flooded. Water can be seen burbling up through what might be a sprinkler head. I just saw this at 7:30a, but a woman who has been there since 5:30a reported this area was flooded then as well.
