Nimitz Freeway Oakland, CA 94606, USA - East Peralta
The graffiti is on northbound 880 on various signs directing motorists to the exit and points of interest. It looks horrible and you can't read the signs - not a friendly welcome for visitors to Oakland. It's all along the area that runs parallel to Embarcadero Cove, where the train tracks run alongside the freeway - probably why there was such good access to tag the signs. It's been there a long time - a year, maybe? Thought it would have been cleaned up by now. Wish I had a picture but I'm always driving while I pass there.

  • 300-510 Kennedy Street Oakland, CA 94606, USA - South Kennedy Tract
Dangerous buckled road surface for traffic going northbound around the curve on Kennedy Street. The thing is like a little ski jump! If you don't know it's there, the back end of your car leaps into the air. And since you're going around a curve, you skid, even when going below the speed limit. You can't see it from the approach, just in your rear view mirror after the damage has been done.
  • 1422-1498 Everett Street Alameda, CA 94501, USA - Alameda

I have lived in Alameda for 5 years and have seen as many accidents here. I believe one was a child fatality as ascertained by memorials tied to poles on the corner.

Unfamiliar motorists coming down Everett often mistakenly think there is a 4-way stop here and proceed into moving cross traffic. There are a lot of pedestrians here, including small children coming to and from martial arts and tumbling classes. Many motorists on Santa Clara speed through this intersection, despite the crosswalk. A 4-way stop would slow them down.

  • 1524 Broadway Alameda, CA 94501, USA - Alameda

I have noticed excessive litter all along the length of Broadway, from Otis to Blanding. The litter is on sidewalks, green strips, and people's front yards. This has been an ongoing problem for years - I hesitate to walk my dogs along Broadway because of all the litter and other dogs' waste. This area is heavily trafficked but does not seem to get regularly cleaned like Park Street does.

Other streets which have chronic excessive litter in yards and on sidewalks and green strips are Park Avenue, Webb, Santa Clara between Park and Oak (the area by CVS, especially the Wells Fargo ATMs is disgusting). There are many more problem areas - all the busy streets need sidewalk clean up.

Additionally, the park between Park Ave E and W is usually full of litter. And Crown Beach has always had excessive litter all along the length of it! Even the shoreline that runs east of Broadway has litter all along it, and that is supposed to be a haven for waterfowl.

I love Alameda, but I am just so sick of seeing people's garbage when I would otherwise enjoy a walk, or the park, or the beach.
