The Nichols School sidewalk on Nichols Ave. has 2 large patches of torn up concrete. It is located a few yards away from the North Avenue corner near where the children cross. A few years ago someone tried to fix with a cold patch. That has since chipped away leaving a pot hole type problem. Children have tripped on this and have gotten hurt. When it rains it fills up with water and in the winter freezes and causes a very slippery surface. Please look into this, it is a hazard for the children.

The sidewalk in front of the school going towards North Ave. has large patches where the concrete is chipped away. Last year they had cold patched it with black asphalt. The asphalt has now has worn away leaving it dangerous for the children to walk across. I saw Children trip and fall walking to and from school.
  • 418-520 Nichols Avenue Stratford, Connecticut - Stratford
The grassy area on the corner of Nichols and North Ave. (on the school side) where the crossing guard stands is so uneven. They dug it up a while ago and never fixed it. There are mounds that stick up and large trenches. When the kids cross they sometimes trip. Makes it very hard the crossing guard to run out into the street to stop cars. Also so many cars try to cheat the light and continue turning onto North when the crossing sign says to walk. There should be a police officer there to stop these people before a child gets hit.

They fixed the sidewalks across the street from the school in front of the white house on the corner where my daughter fell. They installed a red pad for gripping when walking down the ramp for strollers BUT forgot to remove the plastic covering. There are instructions still on it that say remove 48 hours after installing. It's been a couple of weeks. It get slippery when it rains and fills with water. They still need to fix the sidewalk in front of the school down by the parking lot. They have pot holes that they cold patched a few months ago and and some of the sidewalk lifted up and I saw a child trip and fall last week.

They have been digging up Park St. since before winter. The street is so hard to drive on now. Also cars park on both sides at the end closest to the green. The road is too narrow. It makes it very hard to get by when cars are coming towards you in the other direction.
