Big gaping hole in the tree well here for no obvious reason.

This area could use some cleanup. We don’t want our kids encountering this level of trash on a daily basis.

Looks like this came off the baseball fence?

This is the only lamppost that is actually loose and needs to be repaired. All the other ones along the path from Russell Field to Mass Ave are solid and NOT in need of replacement!

    Why does this even happen?!

My neighbor says he’s killed 5 rats already this season using a snap trap placed directly in their path. He pointed out a spot in my fence where they had gnawed a hole at the bottom to run through. I placed a brick in front of it and sprayed repellent on the neighbor’s side where they were gnawing it. This type of thing has been going on for decades but this year seems worse.

Sadly this once magnificent tree is clearly dying :-( I can’t help but wonder if it’s been negatively impacted by all this construction around it, including the unnecessary pouring of some concrete structure in the new park being built. Why are we adding more concrete?! To a park?! Anyway, this poor tree will probably need to be pruned to avoid the big branches falling :-(

What is this hole in the lawn?! Also the water feature does not work and there are at least 3 locations sorta boarded up with plywood?! So much neglect :-(

I banged my head on this too low sign weeks ago and alerted the city but it’s still not fixed :-(

I caught 3 rats with glue traps in my garage last week. One presumably mature female and two juveniles. First time in 20 years that rats have tried living in my garage :-( I still don’t know how they got in and out but they clearly had free access (I saw one running out when I opened the garage door one time but that can’t have been their primary access). This happened soon after the pest control removed their bait boxes so I put one myself. They seem uninterested in food however and have ignored the baited trap inside the garage as well. I caught them with glue traps placed where they seemed to be hiding based on presence of feces. They also apparently were not bothered by the electronic deterrent I have had installed for years, including the freshly installed replacement devices, nor by the deterrent spray I applied. Only the glue traps caught them but now I worry there are more or that new ones will attempt to invade in the future :-( I can only assume they were well fed and were using my garage purely for shelter.

Can we ask Eversource to clean up after themselves?! They were doing some upgrades at the utility pole they told me yesterday and this morning I find pieces of wire lying around on the sidewalk. Really?! Is it so hard to just pick that up and recycle it properly?! Come on Eversource!

Happily the Honey Locust on Bristol St. is growing rapidly and has now begun to encroach on the solar hot water panels in the south facing steeple of our house. I hope you can prune it minimally to avoid any shading of our solar panels and to prevent any branches from reaching the house. But PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do NOT over prune this tree! We love the green and the shade it provides over the sidewalk and driveway. Also the Norway Maple on Cardinal Medeiros has a few dead medium small branches that should be removed. Chunks have fallen on the sidewalk before and I’ve moved some into the yard; it would be good to prevent more pieces from falling. To be clear the tree overall seems to be healthy and thriving. Thanks! Oh, also the back of the sidewalk dogwood in the backyard is doing well; it did split down the middle a bit a couple of years ago during a heavy, wet October snowstorm, but seems to have recovered after I bandaged it. I still have the gator bag and support stakes and I’m just wondering when we should remove them? I do use the gator bags to water it in summer but at some point that will no longer be needed?

This area of the park catches a lot of trash. Could use some cleanup before the plants spring to life :-)

As you undoubtedly know by now, this pole fell down yesterday! I happened to see it fall; it almost hit a passing car that was able to swerve out of the way at the last minute. Two things: 1) please DO NOT replace it!! We don’t need a streetlight there in the first place. 2) please inspect ALL the other streetlights and poles in the city to make sure they’re not also about to fall over :-/ The base was obviously rusted out and you can see it from the outside!

Dead rat on the sidewalk next to trash can the day after garbage pickup. To be fair the rat is already dead so not much you need to do about it but just letting you know. I did see a live one run across the road last night so they’re definitely out and about :-/
