  • 2383 Waring Street North Bellmore, New York - North Bellmore
Due to excessive traffic by cars, large trucks and school buses on this residential street, a manhole cover has come loose. It is right in front of my house and every time a vehicle drives over it, it makes a very loud thumping noise. The traffic noise caused by vehicles using Waring St as a cut through is troublesome enough without the addition of the noise caused by this manhole cover. This needs to be addressed.

My husband and I recently bought a home on Waring Street in N. Bellmore. We have noticed the numerous amount of cars that use this street as a short cut to get from Newbridge Rd.To Bellmore Ave. and vice versa. Not only are cars a problem but large school busses and commercial trucks cut through this street as well. This happens most from 6am to 7pm, Monday through Friday and at all times even late at night on the weekend and a majority of people exceed the speed limit. Due to the excessive use of this road there are many potholes that have been filled in and the pavement is uneven in places and needs to be completely repaved. Since no speed bumps are allowed on residential streets in Nassau County, I feel a traffic analysis is warranted. There is already signage on the street such as "children at play" and a large truck restriction sign of which I am not sure of the exact verbiage but it's something to the effect of trucks not allowed unless making a delivery. How much time are these people really saving themselves that they can't drive 10 seconds further down to the traffic light and turning in their desired directions? This is the only street between Bellmore Ave and Newbridge Rd that is completely passable between these busy roads. We feel that the traffic on this street is excessive for a "residential" street and would like to see a change. Also for the record, Bellmore Ave sounds like a highway and many drivers exceed the speed limit, including large commercial vehicles which cause vibrations in my home. Perhaps the stretch of Bellmore Ave from Newbridge Rd to Jerusalem Ave should be monitored for speed more closely as well.
